Talent is something all players are born with and does not change through his life. Talent reflects how high you can train the players skills. It is described in the FAQ.

Rating is how 'well' or 'long' a player has played in a certain position. I think it affects his gameplay, but I am not 100% sure.

Hope that's enough... otherwise, the elder will come in shortly and correct me...

From what I've gathered, the rating is how good said player is at a given position. Can have different ratings at different positions. This can be improved by playing at a given position and it takes approximately 10 games to improve 1/2 star rating at a position. In terms of performance, the rating appears to be another multiplier, like skill, that determines how well the player preforms in his position that game. However, rating is capped by talent.

The talent is basically everything for your player. It sets the max star rating you can get at a position (BPOS), it sets the skill caps (i.e., a player cannot reach a non-fitness skill of 20 with a 5* talent), and I even remember reading that the higher the talent, the faster a player increases his BPOS.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Talent doesnt seem to affect BPOS gain, if anything, it seems like high talent players take longer

Why can't a 5* talent reach 20 in a non-fitness skill?

A 3,5* talent could actually reach that, although he would only have 4,5* BPOS and thus wont be AS good as a 4,5*+ talent..

The stuff about soft cap related to talent is in the FAQ about training btw

I took it straight from the "PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING! " thread.

I meant only a 5* talent can reach a 20 non-fitness skill, which I read straight from the FAQ (and aforementioned thread). Are you saying I mis-read these?

Ok, now I'm confused.

Also, how do you link a player in a post ? I have clicked the player link part and copied in the ID code where the cursor is and nothing happens. I now have a very stupid looking ad in the ads section

Any help would be appreciated , what do you copy in and where ?
Thanks

From the FAQ:

6. What about the player's talent. How does that effect the training?
Talent has no direct influence on training as such. It does however limit how high a player can reach in his skills. If a player has talent;
1 then his maximum is 11
2 then his maximum is 12
3 then his maximum is 13
4 then his maximum is 14
5 then his maximum is 15
6 then his maximum is 16
7 then his maximum is 17
8 then his maximum is 18
9 then his maximum is 19
10 then his maximum is 20

The only 3 exceptions to this rule are speed, strength and stamina. Speed and strength are limited by a hidden maximum value (different for each player) that represents the maximum value player can reach even if he trains with weights each and every day. Stamina is not limited at all, and with extensive physical (fitness) training every player can reach 20 in stamina.

7. Is it possible for a player to go above his maximum?
It is possible, it's just that much harder for the player to achieve that.
If a player is at his maximum then he has 1 in 3 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 1 then he has 1 in 5 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 2 then he has 1 in 10 chance to gain a point/level.
If a player is at his maximum + 3 then he has 1 in 20 chance to gain a point/level.
It is impossible for a player to go more than 4 above his maximum.

Its possible to train a guy to +3 of his soft cap, although it will take a while

And 10 in this case means 5* talent, 9 means 4,5* talent and so on..
