Ok, so I just got my team, read the Help/FAQ and the Read This Before You Do Anything thread. I got a sponsor, sent a few friendly challenges to the teams on the list, and am in the process of upgrading my stadium, as recommended.
--Is there a guideline on what seats and how many?
--Recommendations on what skills of my first coach I should hire (since this initial guy stinks)?
--How should I approach getting players for training? It appears a good QB is essential for success in the future. Should I use my money to buy a really good young one right now? Further, is there typically anyone on my initial roster worth keeping? Should I just focus on younger players with like, 3+ talent?

Thanks in advance.

Spend all the money after signing sponosors you have on vip seats in the stand opposite the ones with seats on,

Dont buy any coaches for a while. its not like youn are hiring one guy, more like training up a team of coaches.

3.5*+ talent is what you're looking for, keeping anyone over 28 should not be in your long term plans

correct and if you have a 16-17year old player with 4.5+ talent and 15+ intelligence and/or consistency, then you have been lucky and could sell him for 2+ million if you want to get a fast start to your stadium as you cant afford coaches at the start to make much use out of a player like that in your early days

Hi there and welcome

You will find loads of help on here and it is worth reading through a lot of threads to find the info you need.

I sold my decent player to finance my stadium, but I also bought fitness coaches to bring my players up to capped levels ASAP (my impatience will be the death of me!)

Don't overspend on wages - look to plan a friendly each week and always select match sponsors for friendlies and league games. You halve all gate receipts so ensure wages<sponsor+gate/2 each week

Enjoy it - I read the forum every day and can't put it down

I do have such a player - 4.5 talent, 17 year old CB with double digit strength and speed and 20 consistency ... should I sell this player?

I also have a 17 year old DL and 16 year old CB that have multiple double digit stats, but none over 15 (one has 15 strength). Thoughts?

Thank you. I plan on it when I have time.

So the point in the beginning is more or less to stockpile money?

You will need to evalaute your team before spending money on free agents. Try to [build] your squad with 3.5* talent players or above, but over a period of time. Older players (30 plus for new teams) aren't going to help you much so you need to replace them with younger players.
Where you have got younger and good talent players, play them regularly in the position that best suits them and their rating will improve (it does take a long time). If you approach this as a gradual process you will find it works better in the long run. When training your players skills(after you've maxed out their speed/strength), try not to get one skill wonders (e.g. catching at 17 but all other skills at 4 or 5) as this will cost you a sh@t load of money too quickly. You get a "free" player each Friday through the youth academy and may strike it lucky with a good one. Some new managers have a star player that they can sell for big money which will help develop the stadium.
As far as the stadium goes, always add VIP seats until they are done, and then follow with the executive seats as your income will be much more that way. Wait until you've got through this stage before looking at the coaching staff and then you can re-evaluate.
As far as the games themselves go, the general rule at the moment is to run against bot teams and pass against human controlled teams, but as there is a new engine coming in next season (*&?), this might change.
Best of luck and remember that for all the training, players etc, it is also a financial management game so always keep an eye on your finances.

When evaluating a players selling value the only stats immediately important are talent, intelligence and consistency.

he should be worth at least 1 million, make sure to place an add for him on the transfer market, I just sold a 17 yr old 14 int 19 cons for just shy of 1.2 mil
