If you mean the team is making passing play, then of course you should defend against passing. But be aware that they can have put some running in it, so always be aware.

The team you are playing in the cup is 10 days old and the manager hasn't logged in since getting the team. I would treat the team just like a bot team unless you see some activity from the manager. Even then, you'll be more successful running against him. I usually keep default defense scheme against bot teams (pass, pass, rush, rush).

As Phi said, it should be more wise to run against him. The stats show that you have a better position when it comes to ingame-rating. In case he'll starts with his league-formation, you should be secure with running against him. It should be the more secure way to beat him.

That's the valuation of a player per game based on BPOS, consistency, energy, skill-set etc.
That's just another expression for the game stats that are shown for every game next to live game and box score.
