Right now when i align my DL, my ends line up between the OG and OT
is there anyway i can get him to line up head up or outside the offensive tackle

If you use a nose tackle (3 or 5 man defensive front), the NT lines up over the center and adjusts the spacing for the other defensive lineman. In a 3 man defensive front, the ends line up over the tackles, and in 5 man front, the outside DTs line up over the guards.

The thing is it leaves a gap in the line that way. As far as the simulation goes, I don't know how that will affect the game.

Sure they do. Good DL pressure or sack the QB all the time....Mine do.
Stick with 4 or 5 down lineman or you might get gauged in the running game.

I'm still in the stage of experimentation. I've run a 4-4 for the first couple of games. Most teams aren't very good at passing the ball, so I chose to stick 8 men in the box. It worked out pretty well thusfar, but it is always difficult to judge competition in this game to me. Now that the idea has been thrown out there, I'm curious how a 4 man line with a nose tackle would work out. I might have to try that.

all the time? You have 2 sacks in your last 10 games (both in the same game), and 1 sack came from a linebacker.

I'd answer the QB pressure from lineman as being something that's probably being tweaked in the sim in prep for next season. Lineman do make lots of tackles on running plays though, so on that note, I like 4 lineman since most teams run the ball more than they pass.

I feel more comfortable keeping 3 linebackers to help defend the run.

Putting a NT in and dropping a MLB weakens the second level. If you keep 3 LB's and have only on Safety, weakens the pass defense.IMO

Actually what I mean is lining up DE DT NT <> DE. Altering their formation and leaving the guard uncovered. It seems like something interesting to try.
