You don't want to split income for league games if you build your stadium right. If you are in a league with several bots, you will be sending half of your home game income to a bot team which can't do anything with it, and in return you get half the income from a 1000 (or something similar) seat stadium when you play them.

With friendly games, you ensure that both opponents are human managed AND, think about how hard it would be to get someone to agree to play you at your stadium when they need money too. Everyone can not play a friendly at their home stadium every week.
