Gunners are on kick off team, Special Teams Cornerbacks are on return team. According to admins from seasons past, the only difference between a defensive cornerback and special teams cornerback is that one needs tackling while the other needs blocking.
I think gunners are the special teams opposite of the cornerbacks, so I build gunners the same way I build defensive cornerbacks. I haven't heard anything from admins to confirm or deny this and so far, I have no evidence to support this either way.
Gunners do need tackling. I think they need agility as well and possibly even positioning and/or vision, but again, no proof as yet.

I consider Gunners to not be too important therefore my aim is to not train them too high so they don't cost too much in wages. Because of this I train Tackling, Agility, Footwork and both Tactical skills.
I doubt that anything but the first two have an impact!

I train these same skills. Gunners do not need blocking. Also, admins have stated that all positions use 3-5 skills (not counting fitness skills). So it's up to each manager to decide which 3-5 skills to train. I also limit all special team positions to a max of 9, though I may raise that to 10 and this is for salary reasons

I'm going to 12 for K,P and KR but limiting the others to 10. I'm running out of things to train for some though. With the stamina bug being what it is I'll probably end up training everyone in tactical skills up to my limit and then have a lot of good kickers!

k / p follows up a booming one with a screaming run down the pitch to tackle the kr/pr
