If you pull a decent (4.5* Talent) player but don't yet know where to play him due to no physical caps, what is your usual strategy for raising his BPOS?

Do you play at the position (in friendlies) where you think he will eventually play?

Just for reference, this guy's current BPOS is QB, but his key stats don't match that at all.

I would start with the "most obwious" position but continue train physicals.

It happened in the past that i changed position 3 teams until i found the final one.

I dont mind about the BPOS "loss" - on the other hand he gains XP which stays permanent.

Agreed. It can take 90 games to max out BPOS so the sooner you get started the better! I've got a 5* LB who is about to finally reach full BPOS because I moved him as skills capped.

I tend to pick my ideal position based on size, int and con and just hope he doesn't cap. Then if he caps in an attribute below where you want move him.

This is the approach that quickly led to me filling my kicking slots as my high talent/con player capped low. Stupid caps!!!!

This is what i called "most obvious position"

I dont care about BPOS or skills - its always Caps first then decide based on INT/CON/Height the "perfect" position - then start training the needed skills

But even if still in Physicals training and in case i have an open spot in my dev team -> i start playing him

If it works out that his physicals at the end are fine for the position he already gained BPOS - fine...

...if not - nothing wasted, i reposition him.

BUT! For new teams... with not "so" developed teams the BPOS has more of effect than skills - so it cant be wrong to have players with "high and non salary affecting" BPOS in the lineup - just my 5 cents

My understanding is that BPOS is treated like an additional skill.

Therefore for a kicker (the player with the simplest skillset) a combination of BPOS and kicking adjusted by level of consistency gives the players performance.

Lets assume a 5* player with 20 Con and a weighting of 75% Skills and 25% BPOS in calculating performance. In addition i'm going to ignore EXP because I haven't seen the effect of it yet, although that may say more about how often I change my team than anything else!

If your kicker is skill 20 then BPOS probably doesnt play too much of a part in his performance so it may not be that relevant. He's already getting that 75% relating to skills so the other 25% might not make a huge difference.

However lets assume you only want to pay your K as a level 10 so you don't go bankrupt really quick. That means that he can only get 37.5% from his skills. The 25% BPOS can add suddenly will have a much greater impact on the players performance and so you need to get him trained up.

In addition for a number of positions it's not known which skills exactly are needed and as such we might not be training all the relevant skills. That being the case BPOS becomes even more important. And it doesn't cost anything (other than buying high talent players!).

It takes a player 10 games to gain each 1/2 star of experience, hence the possible 90 games to train up. In a competitive league without bots you have to use friendlies to train players up which means it can take a long time. A lot longer than it takes to max phyiscals and skills to a level you desire and can afford. That being the case if you have a young high talent player you should play him in every game you can and hope the physicals dont let you down.
