Ok. So I have this fellow Jarno Weckman who is 4 star talent but only 175cm/5.7feet. In what position would you set him play or would you sell him? His stregnth and speed is at the moment uncapped and please take a note that his intel is as high as 20.

Would he be too small to play in DL? I guess he is way too small to play in OL.

Ty for helping me.

his size makes it RB, G or KR in my book depending on physical caps.

kicker if his con is good.

With that INT, probably Safety.

Is there an obvious advantage for linemen being tall? Perhaps for defensive linemen there would be a chance to leap up and deflect a pass if they see it, but I could see short linemen getting around blocks easier, and even blocking better, if they use cut blocks often, say. I'm not sure if any of this applies to grid-iron whatsoever, or indeed if height is anything but another nice number to look at when you're bored.
Bearing all this in mind, I wouldn't personally have qualms about keeping him as an offensive lineman, save for the waste of his 20 intelligence.

Taller players can carry more weight, which will supposedly matter in the new engine, and thus you'd want taller linemen. However, I suspect your player will have retired before the new engine comes out.

where have you read that intelligence is definitely a waste on OL?

I haven't. However, I'd bet it would be put to better use in a position such as safety, quarterback or linebacker.

IRL I'd want the centre, and the two offensive tackles, to have good decision making skills when it comes to making choices about who to block, or when to take the snap. I sincerely doubt the GI game engine is anywhere near that level of sophistication.

good point, I would must likely use him as a guard, considering the complex pulling patterns they do, then on defense I would use him as a SS to take advantage of his intelligence

Well I'm maybe a bit demanding but I'd cut/sell him. There seems to be an abundance of 3.5+ players so why bother with less than optimum height . If he was 16 I might hold him as a kr. You have to factor in the season or two of wage cost while developing the physicals and the risk that he caps at an unusable level.

Maybe I'm too pessimistic, but it's been a year (3 seasons) since height and weight were added and the announcement of the forthcoming new engine was made, so I don't see the need to cut players solely based on their height. It may come back to bite me some day, but I don't even pay attention to height anymore.
