Hi!

I can set some players for the special team. What other players are in the special team. Are they chosen randomly?

Your special team consists of 11 players:
offense: punter (kickoff: kicker), 2 gunner and 8 random selected players
defense: 2 kick returner, 9 random selected players

So you're right that they are chosen randomly by the engine
