I know that intelligence is important to QB, LB, and SF in this game.
However, I read (and also other players explained me) that intelligence is related to the number of choices a player will consider before making the play.
In that sense, intelligence is very important to WR, and TE, right (because this is a passing game)? What would you say then is the minimum required intelligence for them?
Also, I know that MLBs must have high intelligence. What about OLBs?
Wouldn't it be better to have 3 LBs (1MLB, 2OLB) that all have high intelligence, rather than just one? What abour 4LBs that all have very high intelligence?
And what about CBs? I have noticed that my CBs do not make that many tackles per season. Then again, they have very low intelligence.

You've made me look at my team's general IQ for the first time in ages and, jeez, boffins everywhere!

I do have a dumbass CB and he never seems to make that many more mistakes than his genius CB mate. But there are cleverer Grid Iron users here than me...

In "real" football, every player is making at least some small reads based on what the other team is doing and his pre-determined assignments. However, the real decision makers are the QB on offense and the MLB on defense (it's not always the MLB, but it usually is). The MLB is in charge of reading the offense and communicating changes to other defensive players. If every player were making individual reads and changes, the defense could very easy put themselves in a bad position if some players read a play one way, and others read it differently. Safeties are often reading the play as it is in motion and reacting accordingly.

Intelligence obviously helps other players to some degree, most most of the rest of the players are generally performing a pre-determined assignment, or a new assignment based on a change by the QB or MLB. So, intelligence is not nearly important for other players.

Except in this game int. is hardly even important for the QB, MLB, SF.. A good example could be the AFLC winning Peter W. (Serrie's ex QB).

It seems to me that all the QB decides is the direction of the play.. That decision is easy to take out of his hands though, eliminating the need for int.. The MLB seems to use it to change your setting if you chose to defend against rush

The effect seems to be pretty small though, but what the heck, if there's a bonus I want it, no matter how minuscule

There are at least 2-3 things I rate higher for all 3 positions than int..

One of the reasons most people dont have 4 LBs with high int is cash.. A 4,5+ talent, 17-18+ int/cons with 35+ spd/str tends to be pretty expensive, and although Im sure some can afford it, there might be better places to spend your money when the admins have stated that its only the one MLB with most int that decides stuff.. But sure, if you have 4 you can spare, feel free to use them Its always a good idea to have at least two with int, so you have a spare if you regular guy gets injured..

So, since every team passes 90% of the time, the MLB doesn't really have many decisions to make and since and most offenses throw to only one receiver, the QB isn't choosing sides. Thus, intelligence is pretty meaningless. Interesting.

Even if you have an intelligent Qb, he wants to keep his receivers happy and everyone gets an equal share.

Almost fired my QB because of that - what a suck-up
