I had a cunning plan to hire some coaches this week, only to discover I don't have enough cash.

So my question is:

If I sign 3 new coaches now and the remaining 2 in a month, does this cost more (in terms of signing-on bonus) than buying all 5 together in a month?

Yes it does, you don't pay for 3 then 2, you would pay for 3, then for 5

yeah if it is only 4 weeks difference. then wait.

for me, i staggered the hiring.

fitness coaches first
waited almost 2 seasons, as 10 players had maxed out physicals.
then off/def coaches.
waited almost 2 seasons again.
then tactical coaches. as i needed to do vision for my QB.

I bought coaches as I had the money but I would always wait until I could buy the full set of 20. It will help the earning power in the long run. Just decide what skills you need the most now, maybe not fitness if/when new engine is introduced.
