Just wondering when developing a player, is it more effective to have primary and secondary skills close to each other points wise or should you focus mainly on just getting primary skills capped and then focus on secondary skills?

What I mean is, for example a QB (can be any other position), is it better to have your QB with:

Passing 11
Footwork 2
Vision 3

Or is he more effective with:

Passing 8
Footwork 5
Vision 6

Depends on what you mean by better. A player with two extra points in a primary skill and two less in a secondary skill will be more effective than a player with the primary skill equal to the secondary skill. But, TE player with equal skills will be more cost effective, as their salary will be lower.

...Lets take this example one step further...

I agree monetarily having bigger numbers across the board like:
Primary
Vision : 8
Intelligence : 17
Passing : 6

Secondary
Footwork : 5
Strength : 6
Stamina : 4
Speed : 8

Will help keep the cost down. But it won't keep you competitive, so you need to strike a balance. You can't strip away points and rebuild them from scratch, so you have to build on what you have. If you have a strong receiving corp then you should have a good QB to go with it. Now that you have a good passing game, now you need a good front line (OL). What do you want to do with your Tight End? Blocking TE or receiving TE? Can't have both at first.

Never Never leave your wingman... I mean never never forget about your Defense. Remember. Defense wins games.

So I recommend setting a goal for training. Maybe something like 15 Speed, 15 Strength, 10 Stamina. Or Cap their Fitness (train the players until they cap in each of the fitness areas. Also max out your fitness center, first before the others, if you can afford it.), then focus on their positional responsibilties. This is easier if you already have starters in place and you are working on creating depth or shaping a young player.
