Using other position for special teams positions

So this came up in a "how to save money/your team finances" thread. And it got me thinking as to why is is not common practice?

Using running backs and wide receivers for kickreturners and using cornerbacks for gunners? It happens in real football.

RBs, WRs and KRs all require the same main skils, speed, agility, catching and carrying. So any reasin why a WR with a slightly higher than normal carrying skill could play KR?

And CBs and Gs all require the same main skills, speed, agility and tackling. The only difference between my CBs and Gs are stamina levels, all their skills are mostly the same.

Sure it might take some time getting the BPOS in both positions up to a acceptable level.

I did the calculation on my team, and it is a $30K saving using the WR/RB/CB players. Other bigger teams would have much bigger savings.

Thoughts?

I dont know but when I tried that long back it seemed like the players took a bigger hit in the stamina in their primary positions..... but it was so long ago.....i might just be rong

Surely it makes more sense to not overtrain your special team players?

Multitasking players mean more disruptive injuries. Besides sometimes you have a player with relatively low talent but high physicals/tw/con. They make fine special team players I think. Just don't train them past an appropriate level. Way too many $60k gunners in this game. No reason for it!

I have one kicker, and one KR, using HB's/DL's on Special Teams

If they played both positions in one game, they would suffer.

I'm thinking of using my back up players as special teams. Most managers seem to have 4-5 CBs and 3-4 WRs. So they all won't play in the same game.

I should have put that in the 1st post.

A 20 SPD, 15 STR, 10 AGI, 15 CTH wide receiver, if you trained his CAR to 10, will still cost the same. So must be some savings there if you are not paying for kick returners?

Not talking about training special teams. but talking about other positions playing special teams.

A WR with 15 catching will cost the same if his carrying is 1 or 10. So you can have a $35K per week WR, and then not pay $10K per week for a KR.
