Don't Kickers Always Outgrow Their Team?

Frustratingly (I'm in a Bot-league) one of my best players is my kicker. I'm wrestling with whether it's worth having him around (at a season-long cost of circa $150K) simply so he can kick half a dozen 35 yarders and punt it five yards further than my opponent.

Logic says "Get rid". After all, with so few skills to train up, his salary is likely to be even more disproportionate next year.

But isn't that the problem most teams face? Realistically (sorry for using that expression) wouldn't market forces dictate that kickers would settle for less salary rather than being fired as soon as they got too expensive for their team?Last edited on 2011-03-11 at 15:19

And further to that, I've got players in other positions with half-decent kicking skills.

How does BPOS work? If I've a 4* OL taking my punts and a 3.5* LB doubling up as placekicker I assume I've no way of knowing their kicking BPOS? I simply have to look at how they perform?

It seems the most sensible approach, but it's not very satisfactory.

on the players page move the coursor over the little ? box next to their BPOS rating and it will show you their BPOS at other positions

Its always nice to say more often than not my Qb throws a 80yarder, so I do not need a Special teams but a difference of 5 yards in a close game could translate to 3 or 4 points or the getting your future stars/back ups a game and none

I d keep the kicker. In the worst case scenario if you do not want to train his capped speed strength then train his agility/ defense up. (Clue : ST) But then again maybe its just me.

There is only 4 bot in your division.

If you advance, you'd be lucky to have 2 bots in level IV.

I'd keep him.

Several more on the brink.

That's good. I want to keep him, of course, though he may have to start helping out in other areas.
