Training for a profit?

I see a lot of teams (especially some of the more veteran teams with 40+ players). I wondering how many players I really need for my team...maybe 23 players plus some to cover injuries.

So my question becomes, is training profitable in Grid-Iron?

Suppose you have a good coach (20 in some field). Does the spread between what you can buy a player for versus sell him for, even cover the salary for the player while being trained?

Seems like not...but maybe somebody could enlighten me.

Hey Steve,

I think you just answered your own question However, like you said, teams do do this. I have no idea why, as the initial buying price and the total wages tend to stack up against what you would receive in a few weeks/months time.

Perhaps they get them cheap? Perhaps they have kept alot of their old players? Hopefully someone who is doing this will reply.

Me I blame my obsessive compulsive desire to check the transfer lists and the fear of potential injuries for my sprawling roster. I think that it will in the long run be profitable to train. the question is. How much so.

Yeah, I just come from a Hattrick background where training is how you make cash.

Here...its seems like building a big stadium is pretty much it. Maybe when your stadium is big enough, winning and losing matter...but right now every game is a sell out.

I think that the training model will eventually win out though. I'll be interested on how hard it is for teams in the second and third seasons to catch up to the first. There is where the game is truly going to be defined. All of us are first generation. we have this huge inherent advantage. when the game is in it's third season and those newbs come in. They will be the ones who ultimately dictate the health of the economy. do they buy players and try to win? or do they stick with stadium builds. it's a tricky situation.

Well for me personally, i keep al my youngsters, but most of them aren'r better yet them my oldies, so i train the youngsters and play mostly the oldies.

The idea is to ditch a lot of oldies at the end of the season

Thats why i got more players then i realy need.
