Strength and Speed caps

Is the new BMI intended to replace the previous caps or work in addition to them? I have a number of players who previously were capped for strength and speed, indeed they still appear to be capped, but with their current BMI they could clearly be stronger/faster. In other words say I have a player with strength capped at 15 but with a BMI of 41. Is he still going to be capped at 15 or when the new version kicks in will he then be allowed to become stronger. This is very important as I look for what players I would like to keep and which I can let go.

On a similar subject is it definite that the new game engine will start to be used from the beginning of next season? Right now I just feel in limbo stuck between two different game versions and this makes planning for the future exceedingly difficult. Knowing that both will/will not apply would be a great help!!

They were intended as caps replacing the old caps, but the idea now is that there will be 2 caps, the hidden caps in combination with the BMI caps. Not every 'big' guy with BMI 41 can be strong.

And I wouldn't put my money on the engine to arrive next season.. since we 'users' did not get to test it.

Read the older news. Read the 100s of threads about new BMI issues. And after that, you'll still be in limbo, as no one knows when Game Engine Version 2 and most of the new rules attached to it will be.

Thanks for your quick replies, It makes perfect sense that not every "big" guy can necessarily be strong or every "small" guy fast. More disconcerting though is to hear that the new game engine doesn't have a definite implementation date.

I have not been playing this game that long but it appears clear that no one can come up with a great team overnight, it is something that requires looking ahead to the future and planning. This is a rhetorical question but "How the hell are you supposed to plan for the future when the future rules are shrouded in mystery"?

It definetely takes time to build a good team.

I don't think a new engine will change the things that are important for a player now. These things are allegedly important in this engine.
Don't think that will change in the new one.

Offense:

QB:
Primary: Passing. Vision. Intelligence.
Secondary: Footwork. Agility. Strength.

WR:
Primary: Catching. Strength. Agility.
Secondary: Speed. Vision. Footwork.

RB:
Primary: Carrying. Agility. Blocking.
Secondary: Strength. Footwork. Speed.

FB:
Primary: Blocking. Strength. Carrying.
Secondary: Speed. Footwork. Agility.

TE:
Primary: Blocking. Catching. Strength.
Secondary: Footwork. Agility. Speed.

OL:
Primary: Blocking. Strength. Vision.
Secondary: Footwork. Agility. Speed.

Defense:

FS:
Primary: Tackling. Intelligence. Speed.
Secondary: Strength. Agility. Vision.

SS:
Primary: Tackling. Intelligence. Strength.
Secondary: Agility. Speed. Vision.

CB:
Primary: Speed. Positioning. Tackling.
Secondary: Vision. Agility. Footwork.

LB:
Primary: Intelligence. Tackling. Strength.
Secondary: Speed. Agility. Footwork.

DT/NT:
Primary: Tackling. Strength. Agility.
Secondary: Footwork. Positioning. Vision.

DE:
Primary: Tackling. Strength. Speed.
Secondary: Agility. Footwork. Positioning.

Special teams:

K/P:
Primary: Kicking. Punting.
Secondary: None for the time being.

KR:
Primary: Carrying. Agility.
Secondary: Speed. Strength.

G:
Primary: Tackling. Strength.

I don't want to speak for everyone, but if the new engine allows teams to run the football successfully, I'll view it as progress. If the BMI caps are a step in this direction or at least level the playing field by preventing a team full of 20/20 players, I'm all for them.

Especially the running game, because that would be my preferred offensive style.

No question, but as you said...new engine. And since I did not hear anything except this nutrition thing...Damn, 3 matches left til offseason, which means just another f*cking boring season with Dice rolling and all pass

With the BMI caps,13-20/17-18/18-17/20-13 is the new 20-20. Oh and about the run game, donot hold your breath.*

*Based on the precursor set: Just to prevent the scenario where a team could milk the clock, they decided to create an engine where if you are ahead you will hand the ball back to the opposition by scoring on 1st and 10 at your 1yard line or throwing a pick. Or maybe it was just lazy, unimaginative coding

I'll be throwing this season...but I'm still holding on to my monster RB. If the running game becomes relevant he will dominate.
