For a while, I have had an urge to manage my own football club, and I think I have found what I was looking for with this site.

It looks pretty good as of now, but I'm having a few problems understanding the strategy behind the game, and how to judge what skills are needed for what positions. I also find that I have an urge to put players like my kicker at offensive line, because of some of the stats he has. I just need to know what stats affect what position.

Also, my strategy is to put my better players on the left side of the offensive line, and pound the ball to the left. This is an OK strategy to use in real life, but I'm not sure it is good in the dinamics of the game.

My first game went horrible, but I had just taken over the team 1 hour prior to game time. My team got a total of two first downs, and we lost 28-7. I'm hoping for a little better results this week, but I know it will take a while before my team is elite.

If you would take a look at my team and explain some things, that would be lifesaver. Bowling Green Fire

Thanks grid-iron world, and I'm sure I'll be learning the tides and sticking with this site.

Read the "PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING! " Announcement at the top of the board. It will help answer a lot of questions.

Thanks for the reply.

I read it, but it still doesn't clarify everything. I'm still not sure as to what stats players need at what position, things like that. I just need a little bit of guidance to get me started in making my team.

Wow, I feel stupid now.

I didn't scroll down far enough to see the stats needed for each position. Thanks for the help anyway.

LOL. Actually, there is kind of a mystery about what stats are needed for each position. In some ways, the game reflects real football, and in other ways it doesn't. Reading the boards will help somewhat, but its something that you'll kind of have to figure out for yourself.

In the beginning, you can go with the obvious stuff: faster guys at WR/DB, stronger guys on the lines, etc. but you won't even know who your fast or strong players truly are until you max out their strength and speed.

The info regarding skills in that thread probably aren't right, btw. This isn't like other games where you know exactly what everything does and what the precise best build for a position is.

Don't worry so much about what skills players have when picking positions for them...what you want to look at is talent. Put your high talent in the most important positions (right now, that's QB and WR, but there's supposedly a new engine coming that might change that). Keep reading the forums and you'll get ideas on what some people think of how to build players. Just don't get mad in a couple seasons time when we find out something we thought to be true was wrong.
