Clearly - Most of my defensive starters I have currently training tackling, all are between 5-10, (avg = 7-8ish). And going up 1 stat point every 2-3 weeks.

What should I aim for at this level? 10? 13? 16? Other?

Well for what it's worth I have gone to 12 as my base for most players.

why did you never build up your stadium?

This may be my last post with this account.

If I go bankrupt in a few hours' time, I plan to come back - but with a new team name, new logo and new user name. A completely new beginning, in other words. I may even sign up later today, because then I would be in the Regional Cup (unless the team I take over got knocked out in the first round where a lot of bots get flushed out), and so have a chance to gain some extra revenue straight away.

In some ways, a fresh start wouldn't be a bad thing. Hopefully I could learn from the mistakes I made with the Shaky Islanders (especially on the financial front) and build a better team second time round. As I wrote in my (possibly final) press release, the Shaky Islanders have never actually achieved much apart from winning a couple of minor division titles and making it to one Regional Cup final (which they lost - actually it might have been two finals, but they still lost both). Obviously, it would take a while for a new team to become competitive. But in time, with the right sort of training and more intelligent money management, they could perhaps become a force to be reckoned with. Maybe they could even achieve the greatness that has always eluded the Shaky Islanders.

Of course, if I do actually survive the financial update, then the new team will stay on hold. But if the Shaky Islanders do go bot, then expect a "grand unveiling" a bit later.
