Why dont you like them. They are just icons.
And whats wrong with The Browns? They are my favorite team.

I don't like cheerleaders because it's kind of demeaning to females, it's the essence of everything that is bad about US high-school culture, the emphasis of aesthetics over intellectual contemplations, and, most importantly (!), the icons aren't even pretty, they have really knobbly knees.

The Browns hardly ever win, but other than that there's not much wrong with them, especially as I am led to believe they are still the last NFL team to forgo cheerleaders, possibly because they'd die of hypothermia.

What about team mascots, like animated characters. Or would you prefer blokes with long overcoats that say fbi and cia...

Yes, a group of angry men in trenchcoats with big guns would certainly cheer up my fans. American culture surely at its very very best.

Alternatively, some poor sad-sack dressed as a weasel, (last season it would have been a fish), running about whenever the team makes a big play is also ripe for the monster-truck treatment.

On the other hand, a bunch of guys dressed as giant pints of beer on the sidelines... now there is true zenith of both American and English culture in one hit. Wonderful!

I am sure the attendance would be higher if they where to give away free beer tickets.

I have finally found a way to do this, and have replaced my cheerleaders with an Indian Goddess with 10 arms. Hooray!

According to Wikipedia, six teams in the NFL don't have cheerleaders, so for the sake of realism, you should have the option not to have any.

The one and only problem I have with the Detroit Lions is that they don't have their own cheerleaders (although I like the idea that they use local high school and college groups instead).

It will only sound creepy to those who want it to. I don't like the inference you are making and there are children who use these forums, so please keep remarks like these to yourself.
