As a new manger should I concentrate on buying new, better players, or training the ones I already have? I keep reading I shouldn't buy any trainers until I have built my stadium so I guess buying players is best?

imo you should also wait with buying players til you got full vip seats, play with what you got and add a young one each friday

I would suggest trying to assess the current talent pool u have and then at the very most adding 2-3 pieces to improve your team...but well thats just me

Ok. Should I always keep the youngster? The first one I got was not great - is he likely to improve because he is young?

He will improve with training and game time. But you need to check if he has promise etc ....As an example most ppl fire 1-1.5 * talent (except in very rare cases)

BTW I would suggest reading the sticky thread " PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING! " to help you make a decision(It is a good place to start)

Feel free to ask specific player/tactic assessment questions

i would fire any player that is 27 or older. as from age 28 they start to lose training point. and in the end(2-3 season)they will be useless.

low consistentsy and talent are worth looking at also. i'd probably replace and player that has 2.0 talent or less.

as someone said above, buy a few to replace a the dodgys player you may have.

over time also, you'll get good playes from the young pull.

I wouldn't fire anyone unless you have a replacement though. Some of the older players I had at the start did well for me and gave me time to train up some youngsters to take their place. It's all about money management at the start and getting those seats built ASAP. I was not concerned about my position in the division too much to start with, I was more concerned with building for the future.

Just my 2 cents

That is what I said. Your 2 cents and my 2 cents were the same. I think you worded it much better though.

I'd also suggest to read the wiki, I picked up alot of info about player skills and best positions on there.
