The playoffs started in great fashion this morning with a blood battle between The Yobby Vicars and The Galrauch Raiders. After an even 1st quarter, The Raiders came out flying in the 2nd with 21 points while The Vicars only had 7. At the end of the half, it was 28-14 for The Raiders. After the game coach Yobby told reporters that he new he had to connect with his defence. Neo La already had 4 TD's and needed to be contained. He told his offense to go in the hall and gave there star qb the role of pumping up the boys. The coach said after the game that he trusted the young Quarterback and that he still does. The first drive of the quarter was going great for The Vicars and Coach Yobby felt like a genius. But unfourtunately The Vicars kicker missed the FG attempt. The drive after that one ended even worse for The Vicars. An I.N.T. At The end of the 3rd quarter the score was the same at 28-14. In the 4th quarter, things were looking awful for The Vicars until there rb Alejandro Castellano gave them a glimpse of hope. The QB was getting beat up and was throwing I.N.T's too often, so the rb needed to give him a break, which he did. On The Vicars next drive the qb looked refreshed and revamped. He went deep on his first pass but Tyrone Ondorf couldn't make the great catch. But on the next down Nenad (The Vicars QB) went deep again and this time found Sean Stalesean for a monster 63 yard TD. For one moment The Vicars looked completely out of it, but the next they still had 1 bit of hope. Now they needed to shutdown The raiders offense. They couldnt let them get 1 first down. Luckily for The Vicars there star DE Theo Bozarth pressured The raiders QB 2 times and was the reason for The Raiders 3 and out. The Vicars rookie KR Milan Quick's heart must have been over 200! After his last return (where he fumbled) the rookie new he needed to do something spectacular. After The Raiders punter kicked a monster 41 yard punt the rookie evaded 1 hit but then got nocked down right after the first move. The rookie only ran for 2 yards. Nenad new he needed a miracle. He had 3 plays to move the ball 57 yards. His first 2 passes of the drive were both very far away from the intended reciever and 1 was almost picked off. His 3rd one he told his recievers to go endzone and for his hb to stay and block, they needed as much protection as possible. The ball was going towards the 10 yard line down the left side of the field. CB Thadeuss Tony and TE Cordell Cartwright both went up for the ball. It bounced off Tony's head and was going towards the endzone. TE Tyrone Orndorff then came thrashing in all the way from the middle/right side of the field, " I turned my head and saw the ball being launched toward the endzone. I was at the 15 (85 in GI) and then darted toward the left side of the endzone and just as I got there the ball was right there. I leaped up and just as I had the ball in my 2 hands I get nailed and start leaning toward the sideline. I new this was the last play so I grabbed the ball with my left hand and stick my arm out as far as possible. I then feel my left foot land and look down. I'm still in bounds, I then get hit again and almost loose the ball this time, but manage to hold on. Just as my right foot is about to land, *sniff* I land on a helmet and lose my balance right away. *tear* I face plant and then get jumped on by who knows how many players. As I look up I see the official crossing his hands. Incomplete." The TE of The Vicars Tyrone Orndorff said after the game. When Yobby was asked about the game he said " 'We just weren't able to get the match up (Ben Carver) on Neo La that we wanted. We knew he had something to prove and we just didn't get it done, 21 points should have won the game for us." The Coach of The Raiders didnt say much but he did say we couldnt have done it if it was at The Cloisters (Yobbys arena) and not The Blood Bowl (The Galrauch Raiders arena)
