Hello to all,
Quick question : I want to sell one of my players, but the button to do so in his personnal stats is not active (but I can fire him)... any idea why this ?

Is he planning to retire at the end of the season? I think this stops you being able to sell the player.

If its robin van gorkum it will be because he's too old.

Urm, but thats the only reason i can think of if your player is too old.

Well theres a player on the transfer market who says he plans to retire so I don't think thats it

You can sell and/or fire retiring players so that can't be it. I can't think of any reason why a player could be fired but not sold. You might want to e-mail the admins or post in bugs.

The player wants to retire at the end of this season so that could be an explanation. now I have to see why I am able to fire him, if it's supposed to be forbiden in that case...

I have checked on my team and I have a 30 year old safety who has been with my team since i started last season. He is planning to retire at the end of the season and the "sell" button has been disabled for him - I also had it with another player earlier on. This is why I thought you could not sell retiring players - I would be interested to see what the real explanation is. Can you 100% definitely sell retiring players?

Originally, teams weren't allowed to sell or fire players who were planning to retire, but that was changed near the beginning of season 4 (I believe it was). If you are unable to fire or sell a player who is retiring now, either the admins changed it again and didn't tell anyone, or it's a bug and needs to be reported.


Edited to add -
In looking at the transfer list, the only players that are retiring on the list are free agents. Likely players that have been fired by their team and decided to come back. I do remember last season having a player getting ready to retire and trying to decide whether to try to sell or just fire. I choose to just fire the guy because I didn't think anybody would bid on a player getting ready to retire. I'm sure the option to sell him was there at that time. you can't sell a player who is retiring this season, but you can fire him and for the planning to retire player on the transfer market that will most likely be free agents because they can put themselves on the TL if you fire m
