If my understanding is correct then defensive ends only go for sacks. Well then would it make sense if You only had to defensive ends and the rest went to safetys or would this completely fail.

Thanks

Yeah and I forgot about protecting the run so that would for sure fail

so you are thinking of

2 corners
2 DE
and 6 SF + another player

iono try it
like TFS said, anything could work
i personally like the 3-4 we 2 Free. i pretty much use it against everyone

I'd definitely put some LB's in somewhere. The engine seems to have the defense split into 3 layers. For a play to score a touchdown, the ball-carrier has to get by a player in each layer. Run plays need to get by all 3 layers (DL, LB, and DB) while pass plays only seem to need to get by 2 layers (LB and DB).

I could be way off base on this, but that's the way it seems to me anyway.

I personally like 4-4-2-1. Has worked well vs different offensive styles so far.

My most favorite defense is honestly the 2-5, but my requirements for LB are WAYY to high to ever find 5 of them that fit my fancy.
