Hell with all your AP and LT players Glen Coffee is the best RB in the NFL

give me McNabb Westbrook and AP and ill hand you a SB ring

See? It still takes AP(the best running back in football) to win McNabb and Westbrook a title.

hmmm, well AP is a very good RB but I honestly think my grandma could carry for 4YPC behind that line. I mean Chester Taylor ran roughly half as many times as AP for the Vikings in 2007 and he had a better YPC than AP that year. When I think best RB, I think an RB on a bad team with no history of a good OL that still does well.

Top of the list for me is probably Michael Turner. He went to a horrible team and with just the addition of him, Ryan, and a few key defensive players, Atlanta went from crap to being a playoff team. Pretty dramatic results if you ask me. In one year he's already broken numerous Falcon records. He trailed only Eric Dickerson in the "best first year with a new team" category.

He may not be the fastest in the NFL but he is built like a FB. AP for example runs around a 4.40s 40. Turner runs a 4.49s 40. Seems close, except if you consider that Turner weighs 30 more pounds (245) than AP (215). It's a HUGE difference.

I'll grant you that AP is better out of the backfield but Turner is far better on special teams. However, it's also a good note to make that AP is injury prone. He is also not the best at hanging onto the ball. He had more than twice as many fumbles last year alone (9fumbles on 363 attempts) as Turner has had in his entire career(4 fumbles in 604 attempts)!

If we made a team from scratch with a mediocre OL, I'd take Turner and likely a few others at RB before I'd take AP. But I am partly biased. Turner far outscored AP in most fantasy football leagues yet went around 30 picks later in most leagues. I have him as a keeper in 2 leagues and I got him in either the 3rd or 4th round of my drafts

AP and D-Will... I can't pick a best between them. Though my bias and favoritism will make me say D-Will 90% of the time I guess.

I was just going to say Clinton Portis... he's a diference maker, if he had someone reliable to share the carries with, i bet he would stay healthy...

AP is overated, he is a very good RB, but runs behind one of the best Olines in the league

Michael Turner is gonna be one of the best RB's in the league if he starts putting up numbers the way he did last season, man the guy can run

But despite all of these, i realy think that Maurice Jones Drew is the best RB in the league, he and Fred Taylor formed the best couple in the NFL, he has played only 3 seasons, and has fumbled the ball 6 times, still manages to have a career 4.8 YPC, playing in a team that was horrible last season, besides, he rly is funny measuring 5-7

I hope you're right about MJD, but I'm worried about him this year without Taylor carrying his share of the load. Jones-Drew is a great back and a difference maker, but I'm not so sure he can get 25-30 carries a game all season and hold up. And looking at the depth chart behind him, he's going to need to.

I agree, I've always liked "mighty mouse" a great deal. I personally think his performance may actually fall off this year with no Taylor to balance the run game. He's very versatile and quick but if a defense knows you are all speed, they can easily setup for it.

Turner is the same way. He needs Norwood in the backfield every once in a while to keep defenses honest.

In total talent, MJD beats out Turner no doubt. MJD is great out of the backfield as a receiver and is a great returner. I still think though that for a solely rushing purpose, Turner is likely the best in the league. Atlanta doesn't lose anything having him be one dimensional because Norwood can come in at anytime and run great flats and sweeps. I'll be surprised if Atlanta doesn't make the playoffs again with that duo and now the addition of Gonzalez. It's going to be a hell of an offense!

A change of pace back to spell CP (not Betts!) and a half decent passing game would help him out too. Last year he was gassed by mid-season, and with the O-line injuries, the great start just bled away.
He needs to be our RB.. not our entire offense

My vote for the best.. I'd have to go with AP. He may have a solid O-line but the guy has serious talent.. you never know when he's going to break a TD run and break the game open.
Also you have to remember he's basically been running against 8 or 9 in the box every down due to the Vikings forgetting to bring a QB with them to their games
If the Vikes ever find even a half decent QB (no, not Favre!) they're a serious contender in my book and AP is a big part of that.
