Wow, lots to reply to.

First, I would never argue that Craig is not a great player, just not one of the greatest RBs of all time. I'm not sure the OP was trying to make that point, but it seemed so the first time I read it because he was included by name in a Montana post and in the list with Walsh, Rice, and Lott. Now, he is one of the all-time greatest receivers out of the backfield with Larry Centers, LaDanian Tomlinson, and Brian Westbrook (I'm tempted to add David Meggett to this list), but I think the receiving side is much less important than the running side.

Merc, I agree with you on all the teams you listed. I think Elway's three Super Bowls in the 80's were way more impressive than the two he won from the side of him carrying the team more. Without Terrell Davis, those two Bronco teams don't even sniff the Super Bowl, and may miss the playoffs (btw, I'm an Elway fan). I don't agree with putting Lott much, if any, ahead of Atwater or any of the other players I listed, but to each his own.

JM, this is a general statement, but your post leads me to say it. I hate when people use wins and losses to try to categorize how good a particular player is. The Heisman trophy is a joke now because of that very thing. Great players don't always make teams great, and it isn't always their fault that they don't make the team a championship team. Is Dan Marino less of a QB because the Dolphins never won the Super Bowl? Of course not. I can see the negative yardage argument because I used it for years when I didn't want to include Barry on the list. I have come to respect what he did because he may have turned some -1 yard runs into -5 or -10 yard runs, but he turned other -1 yard runs into 40 yard touchdowns. I think he would have been amazing with either a QB (back a player or two out of the box) or OL (imagine not having to make a move until you have positive yards like most backs) to help him out. And I agree with buckeye on the WR, especially Herman Moore, who I think was an absolute stud that never had someone to get him the ball in position to do anything with it.
