I'm not sure if it's possible to do this, but it'd be great if we could, once or twice i've thought to myself, "Man, I wish i'd have not bid for him." Luckily i've been outbid on such crappy players, but an option to remove would be nice.

It would be for the buyer, but not for the seller

An option to remove bid is a bad thing to implement. Let me come up with examples what it could come to:

Team Atlanta Antelopes is selling J. Doe with deadline on 2008-09-01 19:00

2008-09-01 16:00 Boston Buffaloes raises the bid to 100 000 €
2008-09-01 17:00 Chicago Critters raises the bid to 200 000 €
2008-09-01 17:40 Seeing that good money is coming Atlanta Antelopes finds another player and buys him.
2008-09-01 17:50 Boston Buffaloes finds in the meantime finds and buys another player.
2008-09-01 18:50 Chicago Critters changes mind and removes the bid.

At the end of deadline
- Boston Buffaloes find two players in the sack, one on which now they will probably need to resell
- Atlanta Antelopes find themselves in debt, because they didn't get the money they were intended to get.

If that would be possible, it would make easy to sabotage seller's team by removing the bid at the last minute and what's worst of all, there would be a way for and easy cheat. Another example:

Team Atlanta Antelopes is selling J. Doe, who has the market value of 100 000 € with deadline on 2008-09-01 19:00

2008-09-01 16:00 Mannheim Maraudeurs raises the bid to 1 000 €
2008-09-01 17:00 Heidelberg Hellraisers raises the bid to 1 000 000 €
2008-09-01 18:59 Heidelberg Hellraisers removes the bid.

Now what? Mannheim Maraudeurs will get a good player cheap. Of course such cheat wouldn't be too difficult to detect but with more complex cheating schemes it would be hard to proof.

Bottom line - bid withdrawal is EVIL. If you bid for someone, it has to be a binding bid, other approach would bring more problems than advantages it has.

P.S. Team names are fictional and if there are any RL or GI teams with such names, it's pure coincidence.

A way around that would be that when someone removes their bid, all bids are removed.

That could result in a chain reaction

Think, what'll happen:
a) it'll be easy to buy any player for minimum price raise > remove bid > raise again and player is yours
b) someone would for sure try to prevent all his oponents from selling their players.

Can you tell me one functioning example of a working bidding system where you can retract your offers?
