Season 38 will see the Gobabeb Spotted Hyenas, The Chobham Treacle Miners and the Western Cowboys join us in the TD. Welcome Guys.

It looks like it will be another tight season in the TD and I don't think anyone can predict how it will go with so many strong teams fighting it out on a weekly basis.

For myself it was a cost cutting exercise during the pre season with a view to taking advantage of the AFLC cash. I am hoping my younger guys coming in can fill the gap left by the more experienced departures.

The Scottish Raiders, the Drusselstein Lawn Gnomes and the Venice Dolphins II will once again be strong contenders and will be up there at the end of the season.

The Joburg Rams for me will be the most improved team in the coming season and the 1860's and Scandinavian Nightmare will be formidable as always.

We don't know what to expect from the the Gobabeb Spotted Hyenas, The Chobham Treacle Miners and the Western Cowboys so it will be interesting to see how the promoted teams do this season but one thing is for sure, there will be no easy games in the TD this season.

Best of luck to everyone for Season 38, lets make it a good one.

PS.. Scottish Raiders and Edinburgh Maroon will represent the ASE region in the AFLC this season. Hopefully myself and stevie76 can put up a good account on behalf of Atlantic & Scandinavian Europe.Last edited on 2023-10-14 at 14:08

Before cutting about 300.000$ from my salary, I will set DLG's as a contender, but with limited finances and no AFCL money, I see the trophies again heading to Scotland.

So it looks like my team will be relegating this season. I do not see it winning over 1860's and Rams have home field advantage over Venice.

I will take it as a lesson to check for injuries and gear up for a good run in Div II (again). I hope that I end up in Div I as that trophy is the only one I am missing.

Good luck to the contenders.

Well you beat me in the cup away from home and you are the only team that I have lost to at home all season, so I am not at all sure you won't beat me this weekend.

The top of the table is really close with the top two playing away from home with really similar points differences. My team is within touching distance, but will need a win, Nightmare to lose and for a slightly better result than the Raiders. I cannot remember the last time the title and relegation were 3 games apart...

Well done Stevie, congrats on another league title.

I was surprised I was competitive this season and was glad the title came down to the last game on a three team spread.

I think it may be time to stop. I have been playing this game for over 9 years now, the pool of proper teams has got smaller and smaller and even in the top division, teams still aren't playing their top line-ups with titles/relegation on the line.

100 % m8 and is why I have always wanted teams tying on overall record to be separated by head to head format ( wins over their 2 games and then points for/ against from those 2 games if necessary ) ....... it's the only way that outside influence can be eliminated and would allow teams to do their own thing without worrying about screwing someone else over.

Ps. I know that it doesn't completely eliminate every issue .... but it would most definitely be better than the format we have now.

Don't quit Tom, we need all the good managers to keep playing. The top division this season was very competitive at both ends of the table and it will likely be the same next season as well.

Regarding teams not playing there full strength teams when it directly affects other managers, this also irks me big time. I complained about it in previous seasons and i was told in no uncertain terms that it is up to each manager what team they choose for any given match. While i agree in principle, i will use friendly matches to train my young players and play my strongest team possible in league and cup matches(except against bots) to keep it all fair.

I suppose it all comes down to finances and training up players and each manager has to look after there own interests first which i understand but its still shite when it happens.

To be fair, I have no issue with mid table teams, who are playing each other toward the back end of the season, playing for BPOS. What is frustrating is when teams who can directly influence titles and promotion/relegation play for BPOS.

I had no real right contesting for a division title this season, as my team is underpowered and my salary is really low. I have got by on strong play at home from a good running game and getting the odd away victory.
