I've been so looking forward to getting a Youth Academy. Then I got one and upgraded it. And the picks I get from it have seemed worse than what I got before. I know a lot is random, so it's probably just a string of bad luck, but are there any tips on how you choose your pick of that awful, untalented, inconsistent litter?

Youth Academy is a waste of money. The selection is random, the values are random, talent is especially random. My tip, safe your money for....what ever...

You can see more values, but players are still the same random bunch of non-playable prospects.

In the 30 or so seasons I have logged my youth pulls, I have not seen any change in talent, which is the only factor deciding if a player should be kept.

That is not what YA is for.

The (only) advantage of YA, I can see, is the higher skills.
Saves you a lot of coaching the players you choose to keep.

The bonus with youth academy is that you get to see up to 4 skills starting values. The talent is still just as random. So my suggestion if you keep youth academy is to add the skill values together, factor in age and select the player with the highest starting skills.
For age, I estimate a player will gain 6 skill points per season (provided you have full coaches and training facilities). So a 16 yr old with 28 skill points would be better than a 17 yr old with 30 skill points in my opinion.

Anyway, just select the player with the highest points (or point potential) and hope they have a good enough talent to keep them.

Thanks for the replies, all, I appreciate it. I'm doing what others suggest here, looks like just a looooooooong streak of bad luck as I seem to be training nothing but a talentless JV squad at my facility.
