I'm trying to set the distance for attempting a Field Goal (FG) when on 4th down, but, I know the football is thrown back a few yards from where the play is, any idea how many yards that is?
Is kicking the primarily skill used for attempting a FG?
Also, is there any correlation between a players kicking/punting skill level to the distance they get? For instance a players kicking is 6.xx, is there a maximin distance they can kick?
I was wondering as I have non-kickers that could do a better job than my actually kickers based on their skill levels.
I don't know the answers to most of your questions, however, I do know the distance. The ball is snapped back 7 yards. So, a ball snapped from the 30 yard line would equate to a 47 yard field goal. 30yds + snapped 7yds + 10yds to the back of the end zone.
