Stuck there until the sale is done. If nobody bids on them, they will return to your team when the 48 hours is done, plus the extended time until the next daily update for transfers. You could bid on your own player to try and get them back, but that is looked down upon, as it could look like you're trying to raise the sale price of the player you put there to begin with.
