he thinks the computer (bot - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_game_bot ) is inserting a player (a la, a hidden depth chart), where it's actually the formation he set that is allowing 2 backs to get carries.

Think I should clear up some of this confusion.

My normal formation includes a FB and HB, in 3 of 4 matches I have used this formation my HB has gotten the majority of carries. However, another player has also been getting carries who is not on the field except as a KR. When he was included in the rushing stats I assumed the game subbed your starting HB after so many plays in a row, or some other parameter.

Obviously I was wrong, which is not unusual. I just assumed that as this player was on KR he wouldn't touch the ball on offense.

Main thing is that somewhere in all this I did get answers to my questions. Thanx for your replies, and next time I shall try to explain my self better when asking a question. That way people will not have to reach for the headache tablets after reading my posts
