Hey guys. Have you ever seen a 35:0 halftime lead go to Overtime, like league game yesterday? I play this game for almost six years, but seeing the relax rule (I can't explain it any other way) kick in this brutal, that was a first. Do you have other experiences with it? An even bigger lead lost?

I had a similar case last game, but 'only' winning by about 3 TDs at halftime, then losing 14 in regulation. (And to a smaller extent the week before, i was losing by 2TDs, then winning, all happened mostly in last quarter.)

That's crazy

Have they been tinkering with the game again behind the scenes ?

Maybe you were lucky to be a full 35-0 up at half time? Then they got the relax rule and got lucky the second half. So a massive swing in luck and the relax rule? Only way I can see it.

YES!

This has been randomly happening for a long time. In fact, I had a game that involved my team in season 18. My opponent (Machoman) was leading my team 35-0 in the 3rd quarter and then my team scored 5 TDs and tied it. He won in OT 41-35. See proof here: Vegas Cardsharks vs Machoman.com

The best part about the comeback is that I was watching it live as it was occurring. So there is a documented discussion of this taking place in the North America Season 18 thread. The discussion starts on page 19. The sequence of events that allowed this comeback was quite epic. In a matter of 10 plays, my team received 3 INTS and scored 3 TDs, then scored on the last play of the 4th quarter to tie the game on a 69 yard pass! Quite an insane sequence involved in this.

If so ...it is truly terrible. For me, the "relax rule" between teams of the same division (except bots), and perhaps even between first division and second, should be avoided. All this imho.

But who knows how it works now and what goes on the minds of administrators.

21 points don't activate the Relax rule, afaik. So while it was a huge swing, I think it was more like "normal" GI.

I agree with your theory, I think that's what happened.

Crazy game indeed. I think watching live and being on the comeback side should be a lot of fun. But then again, Macho won in the end, as did I.

Relax 'rule' is more incremental I think. Teams with even just a 14 point lead at half time seem to lose stamina for the second half a lot more readily than teams who are level or behind. Usually this won't matter in the least, as usually the team with a healthy lead at half time is much better anyway. But sometimes, you're out in front by a stroke of fortune, or you have a batch of really unhealthy players as well, and it's a perfect storm of 'choke'.

Kind of a shame that Kraichgau couldn't have pulled that out of the bag. If he'd set his kicking to 45 yards (instead of 40 or whatever) he'd have probably won the game in overtime and set a record for a comeback.

As I see in my games:
if I lead with 21 points, the opponent makes a TD. After this I make a TD again... looks like the 21 points turn on the relax rule.
But I never experienced this kind of thing... wining the first half with huge difference and in the next half the opponent makes point so easily
