When training up a younger player, what's the general consensus on how to treat stamina? Do you train it all the way to 16-20 because of the financial benefits? Are you better off moving to other skills once strength and speed are maxed out?

If you are ever feeling down, just know that neither of Dorfenschmirtz's parents showed up to his birth.

I like to train stamina to about 10 before moving to other skills. After getting primary skills to around 15, I'll go back to stamina and increase it to 15, then increase the skills again afterwards.

I don't think you're really hurting yourself if you train other skills before training up stamina, but there is a point where you're paying high wages due to high skills and your players aren't near as effective as those skills should indicate due to low stamina. If you trained your skills up to around 10, then stamina up to that point, then back to skills, I think you'd be fine.

Don't ever train stamina to 20 on any player due to the stamina bug. A solid/great player becomes pretty much useless with a 20 stamina and brings your whole team down in the process.

Just my opinion though.

I agree with PHI21 - Just had a phone in my hand when I was replying.

I stop physicals when speed / strength are capped and then train skills until I either need to pause to avoid salary increase next season and then train stamina there. When my players are set, I train stamina to 15-ish.

Wow, what's this about a 20 Stamina bug?

My first generation of players I trained stamina to 10, then moved on to positional skills, then back to stamina. Here I wanted these players to gain positional skills as fast as possible as I moved up in leagues.

My second generation of players I trained stamina to 16, then moved on to positional skill before coming back to stamina in some cases. Those with high teamwork went to 19 stamina and those with low teamwork stayed at 16. Here I already had a solid 1st string team and these players were backups so I could afford to bring their stamina up first as I didn't need them as starters for several seasons.

Now I am onto my 3rd generation of players and I am back to stamina to 10 followed by positional skills before going back to stamina. Now my 1st generation has retired and my second generation are the starters. However, I now need more depth so I'm training positional skills instead of stamina.

The 20 stamina bug is where every so often a player with 20 stamina will have a star ratings are very low, like 1* low, and he'll play like crap. So most managers train to 19 stamina and that's it. In a few cases I've trained to just over 20 stamina at age 30 knowing that when they turn 31 they will lose enough stamina to drop below 20 again.

Damn so that's why I was able to get a cheap 20 str DL uncontested :/

I think the stamina 20 bug is no longer in effect. I've not seen an instance of it since the new game mechanics were rolled out.

As for stamina itself, I think it has limited value anyway. I compared my team of lowish stamina players against Mammoth's team with all stamina 19, and found over the course of 5 seasons they made just the one more second half comeback than my team, and lost the same number of games from winning positions.
