Thank you very much to everyone who voted for me to once again take the helm of the UK National Team.

My second time in the hot seat. Last time the team went undefeated in qualifying but crashed out in the group stages. So looking to go all the way this time.

I will be active on this thread to let everyone know what I'm thinking regarding team selection and as much as I can regarding progress.

Looking forward to getting started

Regards

Dimps

Well you already have team to work with but other than that there is no easy way. You have to trawl through each division picking out likely players using you call ups to to see if they are better than the players you have.

Hello UK Grid Iron community I have pretty much done all the ground work to the best of my ability and have made a reasonable amount of changes. I have pushed out players that are either losing there physical abilities or a grossly over weight. I have introduced a much more youthful squad not only to give the UK defense and injection of pace but also with and eye on future seasons.

QB It looks like John James George will be the starter for the foreseeable future. I know there are teams out there developing young British QBs but there are none that I could find, that were ready for the NT. Ashley Borland is a great back up but I felt if necessary to have a another. As although not likely, it is possible that both QBs could get injured at the same time and QB is the only position you can't really fudge. As a consequence I have given JDS another call up. His performance last season was lights out and in an emergency he is a safe pair of hands.

RB. Marcus Black and Grant Hooper keep their jobs ably supported but KR Kiren Paul Henderson who is interchangeable with Grant.

WR. Gourlay and Thornton have been dropped and have been replace by Justin Saunders from Plymouth Pilgrims and Leon Holland from the Seahawks

OL In my enthusiasm I did not make a note of the dropped players although I think O'Mera was one. The team welcomes Joshua Page from the Weasels and Stuart Watson from the Glospreys who gets a recall.

TE. Five TEs on the squad was not warranted so unfortunately Bradley May has been dropped on the basis that at 30 and with no improvement would not get a start over the other TE and WR.

DL. The Defensive line has been cut to 4 players. Ward and Reid lose out to Bailey Parkin from the Seahawks. The DL will be supported by CB Ruben Russell. The DL contains our oldest player at 40 in Gordon Parkes. By no means the oldest player in GI National Teams his attributes make him hard to drop. Personally I think he is better suited to Linebacker were he has previously played before.

LB. Some notable long time servants of the UKNT Nathan Nichols and Douglas Young have been dropped. Nathan because of faltering physicals and Douglas because during my last stint at coach he missed loads of tackles. One of those players that on paper look great but in grid iron reality don't produce the goods. We thank them for their service and wish them luck. The good news is we welcome Elliot Helm from the Warsaw Warpigs, Josh Turner from Rialto Eagles, Zac Walton from DreamTeam and Blake Jaap from the Seahawks. An introduction of younger quicker players may prove a risky strategy but worth the risk I feel.

CB. No changes at CB with Brendan Blackburn and Struan Fitzgerald still being the pillars on the outside of the defense.

SF. I have taken this opportunity to drop Zak Chandler and Dylan Clark (whom I recruited a few seasons ago) as they both been eating whey to much fast food and are running around the pitch more like OL than Safeties. In a bid to increase the strength in depth, I have recruited 4 new Safeties. Patrick Bull from Plymouth Pilgrims, Jayden Gibbons from Sarco Ramarro and Zac Howell and Findlay King from the Seahawks. Once again a big injection of youth and pace this time in to the secondary. Hopefully a new Legion of Boom has been born and will serve the UK well in seasons to come.

K Jack Kemp has been dropped for the Gavin Higgins (ten years younger) from Glospreys who will now take over kicking duties while Jamielee Grant remains as Punter.

G. Gunner duties will be taken up by CB Noah John Donaldson and LB Christopher Flemming

CB. Blocking CB duties will be taken up bu CB Jackson McCabe and OL Joshua Page

KR. One time WR Tyler Gould who had recently taken up KR has been dropped due to failing physicals and we thank him for his long service. Cole has also been dropped for lack of performance leaving Kiren Paul Henderson who will share KR duties with one of the many players who fill in at this position.Last edited on 2017-08-03 at 1:29

In summary I have tried to inject some more youth and pace in to the UK NT. Even so the average age of the team is 29.5 years, which I guess is where about it should be. Only time will tell if my tactic will pay off but if you do what you've always done then you get what you've always got. Its been six seasons since the UK has won the cup and I am going for the win.

I have one place left so if there is a super star in any position out there that I have missed, please get in touch.

Thanks for you support
