We've got ourselves a real competitive division again this year. The Chiefs on the rise and wanting to keep that #1 spot, the Raiders with some great young talent hoping to prove that they are good right now, the Chargers looking to give Rivers that one last shot at glory, and my own Broncos ready to erase the nightmares of last season and step back up for a playoff push and division win.

Who do you think will take the division this year, who will make playoffs, and any bold predictions for the toughest division in football?

I think the Broncos have a better OLine, a chance at a running game, and far more depth at WR/TE so the offense will improve. New playcalling is a real boost (as are the new returners), and having a run defence (hoping those bigger guys will help here) might make us tougher to score against again - add to the No Fly Zone, and the awesome passrush unit for a great D. Siemian starts unless Lynch has made huge progress, both of which I'd be happy with, and either should have enough around to make the playoffs once more. If all pieces click I honestly think we win back the division and can make a great run to the SB, but we might only get 4-5/7 areas improving and that will probably keep us in 2nd or 3rd divisionally.

The Chargers have some nice offensive weapons, but lack the line to use them well. The defence is decent, but I don't see it winning enough games to get them into the playoffs. Rivers has maintained a high level of play, staying the #1 QB in this division should be achievable this season, but beyond that Carr is ready to assume that mantle. I fear another season at the bottom of the division, a marginal winning record, but no playoffs in LA.

Over in Kansas, I think they paid way too much for Mahomes, but he'll be good in a few years time. The Chiefs have some nice pieces but it's the sum being greater than the individuals that I see as the greatest strength here. Could make a playoff push, could win the division again. I hold them the benchmark in this division - finish above them for the playoffs, below them and you've probably missed your shot.

Raiders Nation are happy, and with good reasons. Carr should take another step towards becoming a great QB, and Mack is returning to defend his DPOTY crown. Some nice additions to the team might just make them a powerhouse and tip the scales in a race for the division - however I'm not sold that Beast Mode will hit his old heights. I'm currently thinking they make playoffs and should just edge to the division title.

BOLD PREDICTIONS:
Beast Mode declines to the point where he loses the starting role and retires at the end of the year; Siemian makes the playoffs but gets traded away for next season, as the Broncos look to Lynch/Kelly for another offseason 50-50 QB battle; the Chiefs miss the playoffs on a shanked field goal in the dying seconds of their week 17 game, but a great draft puts belief in their corner once more; Rivers posts great numbers but the front office finally sees the truth before them, and decides to trade away it's stars and re-tool through the draft for next season (including tanking 2018 to get a top 3 pick)

So, what do you think will happen this season?

Too long? It's less than 600 words. It would take you less than five minutes to read. You decided that was too long yet you wasted your valuable time writing a pointless reply. You're a wise one.

Anyhow.

I was at Denver Airport the other day. People were going up to this guy there shaking his hand. I didn't recognise him but someone told me he was a Bronco. Well, this guy's eyes spoke only of sadness and impending humiliation, so they're out of the reckoning. Plus they've signed Menelik Watson - a player so injury-prone his name appears on the credits in Grey's Anatomy. The Chargers look 4-12 candidates to me. Kansas, ahh how I dislike them and their tedious, metronomic offense. They're a threat, no doubt.

The Raiders - I have the impression they're gambling on success this season. Who knows how Lynch is going to pan out? Will Carr have recovered psychologically from his injury? Can Mack maintain last year's intensity? Let's hope so.

It takes three seconds to write a four-word reply. It took 10 seconds to write this one.

Raiders finally went back to their 2000's form, overpaying for the most overrated coach (Wow this guy is the best ! he won the SB with the team another one built over the team he built, and then did nothing for 7 years !)

Dick Vermail, Gary Kubiak & Brian Billick won 1 SB each too and about the same win% but aren't getting the same hype.

Butt hurt ? Jealous ? Did a big nasty Raider pillage your pocket money ?

Let me get this straight .... you give Gruden no credit for taking Tampa all the way as you clearly believe that Dungy was responsible for this success. yeah ?
And yet you fail to see that, by applying the very same logic , you must come to the conclusion that Gruden's Raiders were so good that they too could be coached by another all the way to the Superbowl. No ?

I'd also suggest that it shows two positive things about Gruden and his capabilities.
1 - that Gruden was capable of building a roster good enough to get him to the Superbowl
2 - that Gruden was capable of getting the very best out of his roster, regardless of how and when he inherited the roster.

Is he overpaid ? maybe, as I have no crystal ball I truly don't know. I imagine however that, with all of the tax savings that Mr Davis will be making on all other contracts when in Vegas, the money is offset.

I do know this though ..... that You yourself are so caught up in the 'hype' and aura of the Raiders that this appointment has clearly got your attention !! So much so that you made this comment about an appointment that was made how long ago ? Maybe you have just crawled out from a seasonal hibernation. Maybe you are one who pays more attention to the Raiders than your own team (who are? ).

Is Chucky already giving you nightmares ?
