I just found out I can't sell this player. The only explanation I have is that he wants to retire after the upcoming season is over.

I never had a player who announced his retirement on my team, but I do think that I saw players from other teams who want to retire on the transfermarket. I never thought about that being a problem. But it sure seems it is, or is this a bug?

Frustrating thing is that he probably won't even retire after all, because there's a very high chance he will be on the Czech NT again this circle. And NT players don't retire.

I don't think I would have made a huge amount of money selling him, but I do think there'd be a market for him, because he's really good. I only sell him to cut down wages.

Correct

IF he is a NT player. If you fire him, he will go onto the TM. The market will decide what he is worth. You just get 0% of his worth.
