Season 23 is almost here.....

Lontras
Haifa Mariners
Puppets of the Gods

Continue their rivalry at the top of the TD.

Last season saw Haifa and Puppets in constantly close matches, with Lontras clearly leading everyone.

The new boys...

Dubai Globetrotters 17-1 last season, a home grown team, means good finances, but likely to struggle against the established teams.

Clutch Mayhem 16-2 last season, another home grown team meaning good finances, should be good competition for the Globetrotters.

Darkside 16-2 last season, but those losses came early on in the season. mainly home grown but with a handful of additions. Made it deep into the Regional cup in Season 22 so should have lots of financial backing and may be hoping to be 'top of the new boys'

Predictions:

1) Lontras
They just continue where they left off....

2) Haifa Mariners
Lontras will still lead the way, but the difference between 1 and 2 should be reduced

3) Puppets of the Gods
Haifa have the better all round team, Puppets might take one game, but in the end it will be clear who is on top this season

4) Dubai Globetrotters
Slightly better experience and finances should see the Globetrotters be "top of the new boys"

5) Darkside
Just a nose ahead of Clutch in this first TD season, but anything could change by the halfway mark

6) Clutch Mayhem
Everything is upside for Clutch, This season is about growing, watch them is the second half of the season...

Great write up! It will be great if the new guys on the block hang around and we start getting some lively competition in the African Region!

It looks like the Puppet's GM has been on a spending spree, having spent millions on several dozen new players over the last 2 months. The new pickups seem to be a mixture of young players and veterans, so my guess is he wants to win now and have young players training to take over when the veterans start declining and retiring.

It looks like the Mariners will fall down to 3rd place until their players training completes, which should be another season or season and a half.

The Puppets have spent big on teenagers, not likely to cause anyone any concerns for at least 5 seasons....

We have also added a handful of veterans, partly to strengthen our D against the new boys, and also to allow us to better understand some of the options when it comes to formation and use of impact players.

I would not expect these changes to affect the games with Haifa, and am expecting at best a close defeat, but more likely to be beaten comfortably.... I just need to secure that 3rd place and have a decent cup run...

hahah... you two are funny! Each trying to pump up the other one and make themselves the underdog!

I think you're both on the right track and with several retirements on the horizon, Lontras is going to have to stay on his toes to keep you two in his rear view mirror!

Well done tzwrono and Haifa Mariners, a deserved win, as always a close game. Its always pleasure to compete with you.

Now I need to look at our rematch ;-)

yes, it was a another very close game. You had the chance to take the lead right there at the end, but my defense finally managed to stop you.

Good game, I am looking forward to the rematch.

Maybe this is the season I am overtaken. But they are wrong to say I have eyes on rear view. Lontras only looking forwards for Iron Bowl.

It has reached the half way point of the season, lets see how our predictions are doing:

Darkside above Clutch on goal difference, with Dubai one win behind, a very close group, if one sneezes they could drop from 4 to 6...

In the top 3, all is going to schedule, Haifa and Puppets had another close game, but as suspected the usual suspects prevail, Haifa may be concerned with the scale of loss to Lontras but it still keeps them in 2nd place, expect the teams to hold station all the way to the end.

And now we have battle in the Cup to join.....

It's odd. You usually play Lontras very close, I usually beat you (not always, but I have a good record over you), but Lontras usually thrashes my team pretty hard.

Logically, it would seem like I should play Lontras even a little more tightly than you.
