UK are out of the World Cup by being defeated by Finland today. After topping their qualifying group the UK could not translate that level of performance in the World Cup and are now out after two successive defeats the first being to the hosts yesterday.

I have no explanation as yet to the drop off in performance. Maybe the use of many players currently in bot teams may have something to do with it or maybe but it just was not to be for the UK in the eyes if the GI gods

It has been my pleasure to act as the National Coach and who ever take over next year I wish them luck.

GO Brits!

I think all will agree that the qualification was beyond expectation, the group draw was unlucky and the results had a tinge of bad luck. This was a "rebuilding" year but I think everyone had high hopes after the qualification round. You steered the ship well and brought in much needed new blood. You were the right coach at the right time and the nation (I'm sure) thanks you.

As a nation the UK may need to make some hard choices, are Corey McMillan, Joe Johnstone etc past their time even though they are on bot teams? Is it better to cut deep are remove the old wood?

The world waits.... the UK will be back....

Thank you for you kind words. In fairness Cory always puts up decent figure except in one area, he throws way to many picks. In the top echelons of the world this ain't gonna cut it any more. BTW my band for not noticing that one of my LB had retired and our defence against the French was in bot formation, TBH I wasn't taking much notice as we had already be knocked out of the cup. It is indicative however of the ageing squad which we have even after I injected some young blood.

I am going to start a new thread on the subject of what to do with players who want to retire but are being kept alive like some sort of bazaar universal soldier. Theoretically Cory could still be playing when he's 50 or more.

You've done a great job this cycle miss dimple, I thought i failed miserably last cycle but it could be down to still being in a bit of a transitional stage the UKNT is going through, there are some bright stars in the making though.

I'm going to put my hat in the ring again next time, even though I have tried I think for the past 6 WC cycles.
