Do you go by Bob or Bobby? I think that is the most in depth question for a first post I have ever seen from a new manager. I think PR answered it pretty well, it's irrelevant. Focus on finances, get your stadium VIP and exec seats built and read the forums and you will be up to speed by that time with everything you need for success.

Thanks for the replies and advice.
That puts one theory to bed - putting players in positions that best suits their build and then training appropriate stats.
Is it best to simply play players in their "natural position" (which I understand is generated randomly?) or look at the stats and play them in a position you think gets the most from their attributes. Over time (once they have played enough games in the same position)I believe this can become their best position - is this correct?
As you can't train intelligence I assume this is crucial in deciding in what position to train a player?

Bob
Just ignore their current positions and put them in the best positions for their skills and physicals.
High intelligence and consistency = QB or MLB or SF (generally)
Beyond that, you'll get a variety of opinions. I like high consistency at CB, WR, TE, OT, and K/P. Some don't care.
I have one OL with 2 consistency that regularly rolls 5* game ratings despite maxing out at 4.5* in BPOS.
Now if you mix all that good advice with some good old fashioned patience, you will be working your way up toward TD in short order.............relatively speaking. If you are looking for a quick rise to the top, you will probably not be able to financially afford it.
With this in mind, your initial roster will be only a fraction, if any, of the players that you will assemble for your rise to Div II and TD. Just take the good with the bad and assemble a workable roster with little additions from the transfer market. It's best to stay away from the transfer market for the most part until you can get your finances and training (facilities and coaches) in order. You get youth pulls each week which should help you to get rid of any old farts and crap talent you start with. Anything 2.5* and above is fine to start with, but you should be looking at slowly replacing them with 3.5* talent and above. Again, until you have facilities and coaches you won't be getting the most out of any talent you have anyway, so this is planning for the future, you would be looking at 16-17 year olds with 3.5* talent or greater. Once you have coaches and facilities, you will be able to get the most out of these players for your eventual great team. Finances first though. Play friendlies every week and get your VIP and Exec seats built and read the forums, then make your own management decisions once you get a feel for all the variety of opinions you will find

Thanks to everyone that has replied and offered advice - plenty to think about and work on.
Clearly cash is a priority for a while. I am expecting to play plenty of bot teams in the lower leagues (who I would hope to beat) so I have gone for the sponsor with the highest win bonus.
Thanks again - Bob
