I just had a think about the CBs and realised there is an option...

Gather around for a short story time! A long time ago, there was this talent named Cooper Hooker. He had 4.5* talent, some sick physicals, and was present on a team that had a habit of picking up monster players in a stacked Central European region. He had a nice shiny spot on my database of NT-eligible players (some 5 cycles out of date now) to watch.

Alas, as cycles passed, I never picked Cooper into the team as he was always just a bit off and we had great secondaries provided by the remnants of the Skinks, Kamikaze and then later the Buccs/Wildcats. He slowly faded into the history books as a never was, passed on in PMs on occasion to succeeding NT coaches never to quite make the cut. His club team perhaps embodied Central Europe (both in the AFLC and Internationally), loaded with talent but inexplicably generally struggling more than they should.

Many cycles later, the coach, a previously active member of GI, had faded into obscurity. A mixture of an absolutely awful first half of a season back in 2012 on top of financial constraints (like $25 million being spent on transfers in half a season) plus the lack of the mysterious V3 engine meant the beginning of the end of what seemed like a regional rising star. Currently, the club, while still active, languishes mid table in Div 2.

However, on this fateful day, after a long think about CBs and SFs of the Australian variety, the name Cooper Hooker once again arose! He was sought out, still on the same team of old. Lo, and behold! While he was still a symbol of severe wasted potential at a now wise age of 29 turning into 30, Cooper Hooker may finally be ready to join the Australian NT squad.

He's got great physicals and a balanced batch of 17 skills. Lowish stamina, but hey, he's a 5* option that still has one year of potential use left. At the very least he can play STCB.

I also found another 5* CB with acceptable 19/15 physicals, but only 16ish skills at 28yo though on an active team. Alternatively, you could try Jett Newton who is 34 but on a bot team. I dunno what he looks like anymore, but his salary indicates that he got a training raise in at least one skill to 17, though his physicals are borderline acceptable. Also, if we're super desperate, we could always recall Michael Betts who can play SF or NT. Too slow for SF ordinarily and a pretty poor build, but they're options. Could also check out Mourish and Tibby on the Iron Gongs as I have 0 idea what they look like, but I'm pretty sure someone since me has had a look and determined they're not up to scratch. I think my post earlier pointing at some of the emerging Aussie youngsters that certain Top Div teams are starting + Cooper Hooker are our best bet though. We'll have a clearer picture once season rollover happens

It's fun but also sad going through my old notes. Practically everyone in the NT today was in them at one stage as it was thoroughly used when I was in charge of WC 8, 9, and 12, and a little bit afterwards. One of the scouts I wasted today on a young 5* DL I actually see are in my notes already, so to this day they're still somewhat relevant somehow haha. Lots of guys that will never make it either due to botdom or just lack of training, but had amazing potential Like you've got the Lucas Taylors, Quinten Johnsons, Phillip Cotchins and the few 5* QBs that were ok that some might remember who all ended up on bot teams prematurely. But then you have the Alex Hardies who are 5*, have good physicals, but have practically not been trained in anything other than capped physicals for multiple seasons (I'd know, as I just spent a scout today to have a look). Subsequently, the only thing that has been achieved is spending a few seasons of a promising player's career (he's still only 25) leveling a couple of skills up to 14 (where some already were) and getting stamina to 20....

Found a variety of other types of players I also wanted to scout (scouted about 3), but couldn't be bothered wasting more scouts. None of them look like they can play anytime soon for the NT, and lots will probably strike out, but it makes selection each cycle way more efficient and thorough. Makes me want to be NT coach again, to go scouting/building a reference list with those 50 callups, but I really have 0 interest and probably no time to do the actual match orders part. If I could handball that off to someone else I would sign up in a heartbeat, but alas, no bueno.

And to add a little foreword to that story, Hooker was originally my pull. Sold for peanuts because I didn't want to hang onto the guy for the long road of development...

McEvoy will be into the 16-17 mains by next season end, capping out at 18s. Has 20 speed and is 4.5 stars in CB and Safety. He's got the jump on Arthur O'Shea.

I don't have much else to offer... Easton Cameron (16 mains) as a KR and backup WR? My QB Balfe may be ready soon. He'll max at 19s with 17 INT and 14 CON.

Long live the Ted + Zac show, lol.

Get elected.
Do call up stage.
Contact admin, say you want out and I want in.
I do games and tactics.

If we lose. I can blame you and we'll call it Daudygate.

They don't retire while on the NT roster. So he'll be around age 31.
