The other post in here about mentoring got me thinking

Having recently started another online manager sim (F1) and being rather overwhelmed by the amount of stuff to take in and the different setup to other sim games I've played, I found it extremely useful to have a mentor who I can ask questions about what to do, how certain things affect each other etc, and thought it might be useful to restart the mentoring thread in this section of the forum, hopefully to replace the thread at the top in the stickies. Maybe if there was a bank of people to help out a bit more then more people might find themselves sticking around and getting more involved in the game/forum.

If you want to be a mentor

So, to copy the way it works from the other game, I need volunteers to be mentors. You need to have been in GI for at least 12 months I reckon to be able to be a mentor (I know it doesn't take that long to pick up but there are probably aspects of the game that you might not see in your first 12 months (i.e. human opponents if your league structure dictates it)). If you're interested in it, leave your game name, the region you play in and any languages you would be able to converse freely in. For me, that would be:

Paulo187 - Atlantic & Scandinavian Europe - English

I'll keep a list of any mentors here and link to each team, plus keep tabs on who you are mentoring so that we know who is helping who.

If you are looking for a mentor

If you are new to the game, it is possible to ruin your team in just a few short weeks if you do the wrong things (worst case scenario). If you do a few minor things wrong you can hamstring your team for quite a while and it can all be avoided with the proper advice. Each manager needs to find their own style of game play and their own way of doing things, but a few tips to get you going in the right direction are always useful when you start any game.

So, if you want a mentor from the list, please do not message one directly. Simply reply to the thread with your game name, the region you play in (if you are unsure which one this is then you can find out by clicking the "Your division - table" button on the very top row, one to the right of the paper clip) and any languages you would like to be contacted in (in the order you would prefer). For example

James123 - North America - German, English

If there is a German speaking mentor available then they will contact you, if not I will seek out an English speaking one. They will contact you directly.Last edited on 2015-01-11 at 12:11

All added, thanks for coming forward.

Mods - is it possible to sticky this at the top of the rookie forum please? Also, if possible, can the other mentor thread be removed so as to reduce confusion? Thanks.

You can count me in as a mentor for English and Romanian players.
I'm already advising a few players, so let's make it official.
