He'll probably make the roster as a KR/PR. I think Carlos Hyde stands in his way for a shot at RB in the long run but you never know with the NFL. If a couple of players get injured during the season he could end up as a starting RB in the league.

final 90 is not the final squad... he has a lot of work to do. I think it is his stepping game that will do him huge favours... but with that, the question is: can he protect the ball?? I'm not sure on that one yet.

(that being said, he also offers a unique skill in that he has the ability to lateral the ball better than most - dunno if any NFL coach would be crazy enough to try and exploit this... but could be useful)

Saw him on the news last night returning punts. I think he'll probably make the team simply because he can fill any role at all just about.

I didn't think he'd actually make the 90. Maybe they saw his cheap salary as a bonus. Hopefully he takes the bulls by the horns and gets a lucky break.

49ers scored 10 on the day and Hayne was a part of both drives. Easy to look good when everyone else around you is failing!

He shone on ST too! At this point it looks like the niners would be crazy not to sign him.

I'm waiting for him to get a few catches in the flat in space as well. He had one thrown to him today but the QB sold him the dump - got smashed by a LB and was lucky not to fumble.

Looking forward to Hayne vs Boys and my Raiders vs Vikes next weekagain next week!

I saw some of his runs on the news - you can definitely see there is a lot of room for improvement, but what he showed in his first ever game was still impressive.

He's on the fringes when it comes to making the roster, but the media attention might end up swinging things in his favour over the guy he is competing with (I think his name is Hunter?)

Even if he doesn't make the cut, come September he will be on a practice squad somewhere.

Wherever he ends up, I hope he succeeds.

Unless he joins the Pats, that is.

Then again, a genius like Belichick could be just the person to fine-tune his game and bring the best out of him.

On his second punt return he returned a punt that I think 90% of PRs would have fair caught - I'll bet that got the coaches attention and caused a nervous moment!

And yeah, he'll need to learn to drop his shoulders a lot more when running between the tackles for both ball security and finishing off plays.

Haha, I thought the same thing with that return - was an obvious touchback situation. He will hear about that, no doubt. The return itself was nice (though his stiff arm went close to being a facemask penalty at the end)
