Players should not be able to play any position. It seems to me that you guys are basing this game off of American Soccer or something. Stop! Football is nothing like soccer. Players aren’t only good from age 16-27, most professionals play from around 21 till their 30’s. Teams are trying to “build” for the future this early in the game and having players wear out at 27 makes players who are 25 and 26 useless because in a couple years the players will be “bad.” If it were position specific, “veterans” would still be worth something and the free agents who are 30 would actually get bid on and used on teams instead of everyone chasing 16-20 year old players which is just ludicrous. Players can’t play any position. Period. Now I hate to sound like I’m crying but the similarities are all too many, it’s like you guys think this is Soccer . Some players, like an offensive lineman could theoretically play defensive lineman for example, or could be “converted” to play the position or vice versa. Or a WR could play CB or Safety or vice versa. Sometimes athletic QB’s are converted to WR or RB.
1. Players in football are different; they weight different weights and they are all different heights but there are some position guidelines. Weight is in pounds (lbs.) and Height is in feet and inches (6’1 is 6 feet 1 inch) As far as age goes, it is also position specific, below I have some guidelines

A. QB
i. Height – No shorter than 6’0, no taller than 6’6.
ii. Weight – Between 190 and 240
iii. Age – Can be effective till 40 but generally starts to lose ability mid 30’s

B. RB
i. Height – Between 5’8 and 6’3, more commonly between 5’10 and 6’0
ii. Weight – Between 190-250, more commonly between 200-230
iii. Usually wear down about age 29 or 30. Can be effective until mid 30’s

C. Why is there no FB position. Fullbacks are almost always blockers, but can also catch the ball out of the backfield. They are closely related to TE’s but are generally less athletic and better blockers.
i. Height – 5’10 – 6’3
ii. Weight – 230-260
iii. Age – Effective until mid 30’s

D. WR
i. Height – 5’8 – 6’7 more commonly 6’0 – 6’3
ii. Weight – 170 – 230
iii. Age – Wear down early 30’s but can be effective until at least mid 30’s but occasionally until late 30’s

E. TE
i. Height – 6’0 – 6’7 more commonly 6’2-6’5
ii. Weight – 220-250
iii. Age – Mid to late 30’s

F. OT
i. Height – 6’3 – 6’8
ii. Weight – 300 – 340
iii. Mid to late 30’s

G. OG/C
i. Height – 6’2 – 6’4
ii. Weight – 280 – 350
iii. Mid to late 30’s

H. DT
i. Height – 6’2 – 6’6
ii. Weight – 290 – 370
iii. Age – Early to mid 30’s

I. DE
i. Height – 6’2 – 6’7
ii. Weight – 240-295 (depends on if 3-4 or 4-3 type)
iii. Mid to late 30’s

J. LB
i. Height – 6’1 – 6’5
ii. Weight – 220-255 (depends on if inside or outside)
iii. Mid to late 30’s

K. CB
i. Height – 5’8 – 6’3 more commonly 5’10 – 6’1
ii. Weight – 170 – 220
iii. Around 30 they lose their elite athleticism so are sometimes moved to Safety.

L. S
i. Height – 5’10 – 6’3
ii. Weight – 190 – 230 (depending on if Free or Strong safety)
iii. Mid 30’s

M. Not even going to specify for K/P

I also think it wouldn’t be too much to ask to have a package of formations for each matchup. This may be something you could offer to supporters only that would greatly help their chances of being a successful team. I think something like 3 to 5 formations for offense and defense would be enough to make people happy.

I suppose a player is 'bad' until he has, let's say, a 10 on his mainskill. For the moment everyone has skills around 5-6-7, so everyone is 'bad'.
And in that case, it's logical that a player can play on different positions, isn't it?

This is an online manager game, it's not supposed to be exactly like real life.

If you implement your suggestions, the game would be no fun at all.

Downsizing choices, formations etc. is not good for an online game. Trust me, I play quite a few online games.

Why would this be considered downsizing choices? Im not talking about limiting people to 5 formations. I'm talking about for each game they can make up their formations like normal, and maybe they could choose how often to run the formations, or if its a run or pass formation or something like that.

No it isn't conceivable that everyone can play any position because a 300 pound person can't guard a 6'3 200 pound WR. Since no one has any height or weight, I suppose it is but that isn't close enough to real football.

What about the age thing, you guys think theres nothing wrong with people just getting worse and worse from 27 on? Why do you think everyones trying to unload their old players for young guys. Pretty soon there wont be anyone in the league over 29.

without touching the other stuff you mentioned. Wouldn't it be just a shift in age. Lets say instead of 16 to 27, from 21 to 32. Because I think you are not allowed to play in the NFL under the Age of 21, if i remember it correctly. At least I don't know a teenager playing in the NFL.

Would this make any real difference?

Well I would like it to be position specific but if you want to do it really boring then yes.

OK. Weight and height is something we'll definitely consider for the next season. They would add to the realism but they need to be done in a way that they won't scare away people because of the limitations they would bring.

Age will stay as it is. The older players now are useless and will probably be for a couple of seasons more. But I seriously doubt that when we come to a stage where we'll have 30 year olds with skills of 15-20 that someone will want to offload them just because of their age.

The reason why players can play all the positions is because at the moment they are all really bad, something like amateur football players. As the game progresses this will change and players will have much fewer positions at which they'll be good at (most will have only 1). Limiting second (third, fourth, etc) positions based on their primary is something to consider but again you have to ask yourself if this detail to real life will bring better game experience or will it only satisfy the hard-core football fans.

At the moment we have no plan to change how many formations you can choose for 1 match. This would be a good thing if you could influence the match while it is played but as it stands you can't. So this one for the moment stays as it is.

Hey I understand how it goes. Thanks for the opportunity to voice my opinions. Regardless I still think the game is a great idea and look forward to any new additions in the future.

And when you're going to do it, it should be done so ex. a player wich best position is RB will have the height and weight of an RB.
Would suck if lets say: One of my guys(16 year old) who i want to become a running back next season weights 340 lbs :/
