Their more heinous mistake was the failed screen off a play action on 4th down and then the final 2 point effort.

I think they were good plays. Broncos pass rush hurried Brady to throw it too fast so they did look bad. Again - excellent job by Broncos D and their DC

Sure, with 4th and short some bootleg with Brady running like a mad man might've worked better

New England didn't have it all their way either. Their pass defense is horrible. Shame KC didn't start throwing long ball earlier in the game. Result may have been different. And no Maclin either.

I think the AFC champ game is gonna turn into a grandads shootout. Both defensive backfields are gonna get walked over.

Not sure what game you were watching. The Patriots surrendered a grand total of 246 yards and 1 touchdown on 50 Alex Smith attempts. His average YPA was 4.92, his lowest of the season. They held Travis Kelce to 23 yards on six catches.

Have to agree with Whammy on this one. I would expect a defensive struggle. First team to break 21pts will be the winner in this one, unless there is a meltdown, like we saw in one of the recent super bowls. I'm expecting a tough time for both offenses.

Yeah, pretty much went down the way I thought, but came up one pt shy of 21. Incredible defense by the Broncos.

In the other match, wow, might have been the best game of the year for the Panthers.

This will be an incredible Super Bowl. I'm going to suggest that the first team to 14 may very well win this one, but then I was thinking both defenses have a reasonable shot at scoring too. The Broncos will have a tougher time scoring than the Panthers, so I will take the Panthers 31-17

Brady had the ball 3 times in the last 10 minutes and couldnt tie the game, they just kept beating him.

It was a mistake not to kick a field goal the first time they went for it on fourth down. There was 6:30 left in the game. The Patriots defense was playing great. Kick the field goal, kickoff and play defense.

There is a lot of hindsight in this line of thinking. They were down by 8, going for a fieldgoal meant they still needed a touchdown or two possession with 6 minutes to play, and the Broncos had just had their best drive of the second half.

The fact they had two more possession after that doesnt mean they were going to have them anyways. Contingency lead Broncos to play very conservatively because they knew the Patriots needed a score and a 2 point conversion.

Going for the field goal was a suitable choice, but not a clear cut better choice than trying to convert.

There's no hindsight at all. I said it as soon as they failed to convert on third down. It was a decision made out of desperation at a time in the game that didn't merit desperation.

Looking likely.

(Leaving the Falcons as the only NFC South team to not have a Lombardi trophy, if/when it happens )
