Oh well. We're out with a game to go.

Hopefully next cycle the best players dont ride the bench all campaign.

Hopefully tough criticism will only come from those who put their hand up for the job next cycle also.

Criticism can be part of the gig. Deal with it or don't apply for the gig. They ain't personal attacks.

That still doesn't explain why if you're so fussed about it that you're not putting your hand up to do it!

First post of this thread.

Who is going for the coaching gig?

Which player/s need to be added to the roster?

I'm happy to give it another go. But if another suitable applicant put his hand up, then I'm happy to shove off.

I did it for 3 cycles previously. And was gonna apply again when I heard Daudy was stepping down, but thought I'd give someone else the experience.

I have a different view on that decision now than I did when I first made it. Which I will not go into.

I would not have given it up this cycle if I wasn't overseas (+ hindsight as to how it worked out I guess). I could have easily still done it, but what do you know, the guy who thinks he can't put 110% in a community team hopes someone else puts in the required effort instead. Now we know...

It's one thing to record a disappointing result (and let's be honest, this is roughly the same stage we've reached the last few cycles anyway), but you get the impression he wasn't even TRYING (or worse, seemingly culpably going backwards) with our best list in the history of the WC. It all started with team selection - he didn't even make a SINGLE change including the guys that had hit 31 and physical decline. Then suddenly all our upcoming guys, who were already starting last cycle, found themselves not playing at all despite IMPROVING in the offseason (hence why this cycle's list is the best we've ever had).

I'm all for experimentation and personal coach flavour in terms of selection when it comes to 50/50 or otherwise narrow calls. It's why I don't actually mind Tinkler's latest offensive selections, as I can see SOME justification for some of the selections (my personal preferences aside). Defence is a whole different story though. We've been clearly playing a MUCH MUCH weaker defence than we should. Yes, at this level they're all decent players, but there is CLEAR light and day between some of the ones playing and the guys who are not - and it's not in the correct order you'd hope it to be. Then you look at some of those guys playing over clearly better teammates, and then you see personal (to the coach) connections. It may be a coincidence, but there is literally no build justification for any of those decisions, so you have to wonder.

hosh, I realise project and I have a lot more inside information than you, but you really have to believe me when I say we played SIGNIFICANTLY below strength every single game with absolutely no justifiable reason to do so.

In summary, this game is 80-90% personnel selection and it's incredibly frustrating when it appears the head coach isn't even remotely trying. We're no where near deep enough to simply play whoever we pick out of a hat, so I don't think it's unjust that we're hoping the coach starts paying attention to the difference in builds.

Fair enough.

But project gets a little high and mighty at times.

I asked a few simple questions earlier this season and he said I should already know this and that if I'm putting my hand up to do it. That was total bullshit, especially from someone not even putting their hand up to do it this season.

When and if I am ever selected to do it I'll know all about it then!

There are a few things you dont learn by being a coach. Since they are not written anywhere in the FAQ/Help. The only place to learn is in the forums.

Im not saying that you cannot do the job required. Only you would know if you can or not. But you really need to know within yourself if you have the ability to put in the time and effort to do the gig. How could one do that without knowing how the process all works in the first place?

Got nothing to do with one puting their hand up.

You got your answers from me. And if you got the gig, I'd still answer any more questions you had. I'd be willing to help any manager that got the gig. Cos the is the type of high and mighty bloke I am. I only wanna see the aussie side succeed.

Personally if you are put into a position of authority by the aussie community. And I know its only a game, but take it at least semi seriously. It be nice if all the pervious hard working managers efforts at head coach weren't flushed down the toilet in just a few cycles.

Good game that last one. Shame the close result didn't go our way. WR combo did some great work running up the yards gained.
