Now that we can see all our transfers, not just the last 20. It's amazing where some of my players came from, and how long I had them.

Kai Harbar CB Kamikaze $ 5,000 21-01-2010
Brodie Harbrow LB Battlemoths $ 10,000 31-01-2010
Callan Watters DL Barossa Bulls $ 10,000 02-02-2010
Jamie Ibbotson SF Wakeville Warriors $ 12,000 12-05-2010
Harrison Wall LB Battlemoths $ 1,000 26-06-2010
Lucca McGregor OL Edwardstown Wolverines $ 9,000 12-07-2010
Jared Grose TE Yarra Park Bears $ 7,000 30-11-2010
Bailey Burgoyne SF Yarra Park Bears $ 1,000 25-12-2010
Percy Morton CB Tiger Bay Buccaneers $ 1,000 03-01-2011
William Reid RB Slumbering Skink $ 2,100,000
Jimmy McDougall LB Southern Flippers $ 3,900
Justin Bird CB Port Adelaide Spartans $ 50,000 11-12-2011
Aisake Holland CB Ascot Vipers $ 78,750 20-01-2012
Edward Shirley WR Steel City Rangers $ 32,579 27-02-2012
David McGuigan OL Bergertrons $ 85,692
Mason Hinman QB Melbourne 49ers $ 350,000 25-04-2012
Lachie Doughty LB Sydney Convicts $ 10,000 10-04-2013

Other teams that I have brought players from were Godzilla Raiders, Plympton Predators, Sydney Saviours, Tuff Gong Iron Backs, Steel City Rangers (the original, not current one).

It's like a history lesson for the Oceania Region.

There is even a few Bury Us Alive and Orange Ape Mentals in there also.

Who else has got somthing from way back? From an old long forgetten team? Etc?

Never knew Kai Harbar came from Kamikaze. And I remember Battlemoths belting me in II.3.Last edited on 2013-11-15 at 12:13

Looking at one of the first 4.5* players I sold the other day to see he had both physicals either 19 or 20 and good int.

I sold him for just over 300k.

But then my 18 int 15 con 4.5* talent QB cost me a grand total of 3k.

For a while, you were sort of the Aussie hoover, in that you bidded on nearly any Australian player who even looked like he had a sniff of potential. The sweeper so to speak.

I cannot believe it took me until 16.07.2012 (more than an an actual YEAR of active transfer activity) to buy my first Australian player. He was a dud, and purely a speculative buy (but had great other assets outside his talent). The market being what it is when it comes to speculatively buying high intel/cons bought him off me and I consequently saw him float through quite a few teams after.

In fact, since then, I have bought a total of only 3 more Australian players. One was Mason Lucas to fire him to ensure he didn't retire for the NT, one was Garrick Johnson who was from the Tuff Gongs and is my starting OT, and one was a guy named Bryce Patton. A 4.5* talent with yellow speed and 19 strength who is becoming an OL. The most hilarious things about Bryce is, he's actually a former youthpull of mine that I saw for sale much later at a low price. I knew his speed was capped when I sold him, but when I rediscovered him, I noticed his new team had taken strength up to 19. Unadvertised, and with me already knowing his talent, I picked him back up for $1k.

Long story short, out of the many buys I've had over the seasons, only four of them were Australians. One was a temporary thing for the NT, one was rubbish, one was my own youthpull, and finally, the last guy who actually improved my team. I did buy a Spanish player from the Steel City Panthers long before that though.

As for famous teams, I helped empty former NA Top Div team the Minnesota Xtreme. All of his players had decent physicals, and I picked up a 5* talent and 2 x 4.5* talents from him (one of which is still on my team, and another I sold this offseason). I also bought the last ever player sold by the original Sparta Nijkerk team. His massive firesale had already concluded a while before, but I was observant enough to notice him selling a brand new 4.5* talent youth pull before he went bot. His physicals were something like 8/8 to start though, and at least one of them capped pretty low before I sold him on. He's still around though and on a pretty well known user's team (though he hasn't had his bpos maxed or a high salary), so maybe I pulled the trigger too soon.

I spent 400k on Lucas many seasons ago and built him to where he is now, finances forced me to sell him. Love to have him back permanently

...this is why you're broke all the time!

But, thanks for creating a rockstar kicker for the NT. He's still being handballed around random teams at the moment though. Just need to find him a nice home in a club planning on quitting. A nice bot team to pay his ridiculous salary and ensure he doesn't retire prematurely.

Speaking of, I think I'll have to send a PM to the team that just won his auction. Yet another fresh team...

Guilty. But I didn't wanna see home grown talent go to waste elsewhere.

All those players on that list except 3 are:- either are ex NT players, current NT players or near future NT players. They are trained right. Physicals 35+, and skills where they need to be. You know how I do it.

I hate to know what the make up of the aussie national team would be if some of these players went elsewhere.

Holy crap! I sold Mason Whitecross once. I don't see him in the brought list. So he must have been a youth pull. Why'd I do that?

I think a big reason why I never really bought many Australian players is simply because there usually weren't very many for sale. I despise blind fishing personally, and you tended to collect the proper ones anyway, so I guess they were never really a specific priority for me and were lost amongst the more popular nationalities. The big teams we've had in Oceania in the last few seasons hardly ever sell Aussie prospects with upside, or ready made players that have more than 1-2 seasons in them. I'd have a few more Aussie purchases if I was around for the Skink firesale perhaps, but generally speaking we retain almost all of our decent players in recent times. Even I do this, like with Nick Chatres. Will be a top WR one day, but not quite as good as what I'm using at the moment. In the meantime I'm making him my KR while ensuring he gets to an appropriate WR level for potential NT services before I potentially sell him on.

It's actually why I'm a bit surprised these days when I find a GOOD youngish Aussie prospect on a foreign team. They're certainly not as frequent in my findings as they were two-three or more world cup cycles ago. That's not a slap in the face to foreign teams and their development skills (some of our best ever players have been developed internationally), but definitely a sign of the current times and where our youth is going (or not going).

EDIT: You sold Mason Whitecross?!!?!?!?! You're the source of the mystifying talent leak! Is your last name Snowden or something? Good thing I found him again eh?

EDIT2: Super interesting to read Kai Harbar came from Kamikaze. Katsuben seems to be somehow linked to a huge percentage of our NT secondary (Whitecross being an exception, though Keith Raines is seriously challenging him as best player). If I'm looking for secondary players in the future, I'm going to buy a Kamikaze youthpull, because even if he's 7/7 physicals, I fully expect him to roll 20 speed and become some sick CB/SF.

Brodie Small, 19yo, 4* TAL from Michigan State Spartans for $16k - presently 20/19 Spd/STR, still training STR. 15 CON, 8 INT - future WR/TE (15/7/2013)

Ryan Hooper, 24yo 5* OL from Mammoth for $500k. STR capped at 18 but hoping that training STAM from 11 will bump it to 19 at least. 15 CON. (14/10/2013)

Rhyce O'Meally, 19yo, 4* TAL from The Winners. Spd capped @ 15, STR uncapped @ 12. 18 CON, 10 INT. (16/6/2013)

Wow Brodie Small sounds alright. Needs to go into the future aussie player thread. Good buy for $16K.

Are you training the 3rd bloke in the hope his strength caps high enough to play OL?
