on transfer market as free agent. so must have come off a human team.

or... from a bot team that has been recycled. I think when a team is wiped for a new coach, every player has a small chance to seek employment again much like when you fire people. That's why you sometimes see clumps of odd free agents - usuallly with a bit of age and sometimes developed to some extent (which excludes a brand new team immediately discarding players with no future when they generate their team).

from the end of the 30th year or later, computer randomly select when. there will be a message in the coaches comments when it is his last season. reads something like, "XXXXXX plans to retire at the end of this season."

Bringing back a very old thread, but when a player has this message do they always actually retire at the end of that season?
