Only 4 applicants for the UK NT Manager, the lowest total for some time.
However, quality is more important than quantity, and with the likes of AbCat on the list it's pretty obvious that there will be a quality UK NT Manager at the helm when the votes have been counted.

no disrespect to steve3112 or my "regional rival" the Loaf, but Abcat and Mr Casado are front runner. They are both established TD managers and both already been there.
Mr Casado did it at a time where the UK team was no where near as good as it is now and might have earned the right to get another crack at it. On the other side Abcat was leading the team at a time it was becoming quite relevent again and finished with a very good third place. For most managers and most team that would be enough to make it a success, but in Abcat's case he was followed by two winning managers and as it is in that case he probably feels like he underachieved (personally I consider 3rd in a world cup is a tremendous achievement). So will it be a second chance at success for MR C. or a chance at redemption for Abcat...
Need to check with Rocky for the odds on where to put my money

Hmmm, not quite sure how the (above) ties in with the facts, very loosely methinks.
Basically .......from what I remember :- .......

Monkey won it (World Cup 2), Stratamartin came 3rd (WC 6), AbCat won it (WC 7), and His Royal Highness Prince Mark Phillips retained the trophy (WC 8)

This is correct. Of further interest, Mrcasado reached the quarter finals in World Cup 3, losing against the eventual winners, Poland. I think he would make a superb manager though.

Anyone who is interested in UKNT history would be well advised to have a read through some of the old World Cup threads in this forum, where a treasure trove of information, including helpful snippets of stuff for National Team managers, can be found.

Before expectations are raised too high, and we rename this game British football, I should mention that I personally only see the UK team's chances of retaining it again as 1 in 4. There are just too many other great national teams around for us to be capable of owning the trophy.Last edited on 2013-08-01 at 20:53

Big names scaring off other managers clearly!

I struggled with who to chose but went with MrC in the end. In all honesty it was a coin flip.
