I agree with you. I think, there should be for each group of coaches 2 combo-boxes. First one: Hire or Fire, second one: 0,1,2,3.....20 coaches. Total count of coaches will be : existing + hired - fired

Looks like they're going to keep it this way. It's probably better to think of the hiring of staff as a hiring of a completely knew staff every time you alter it. You're hiring a team and you can't keep individuals from any 1 team to transfer to another team. Makes it pretty hard to do the upgrades, but the guys going from 1 to 20 all at once to avoid redundant charges might have it right.

Hmmm, so it is not possible to "upgrade" one single coach within the team? Not very realistic I would say
In football coaches come and go all the time. Espacially in Pro-football. And their importance is also big for the team.

So when my defensive coordinator sucks, as the owner of the team I have to replace my headcoach, my offenseive coordinator and all my positioning coaches too??? Weird thinking IMHO

Maybe the admins are confused with soccer where the headcoach often comes and goes with his team of little helpers?

This has nothing to do with realism, it's got to do with economy and tactics - this is a game after all
