Using the 9 youthpulls I have sold visibly available on my transfer history, I have sold all of them for merely $171,527 in 4 months. This is largely propped up by two 4.5* talents (!) which were sold for 40k and 50k (it's ok Aussie fans, they weren't very good 4.5* talents if you know what I mean...).

Now, every single one of these players except Tivendale and maybe Bartram (3*) was between 3.5*-4.5* talent. $171,527 sounds like a decent amount for just over 4 months, but most of them came during an exceptionally hot streak of mine where I pulled 3.5-5* almost every week for quite some time. It was truly an exceptional streak that I doubt I'll ever see again. HOWEVER, the YA does not improve your chances of this main selling point - higher talent

While my particular sales were generally not of 'fresh' youth pulls (mostly negatively affecting price), it still shows that this is by no means a reliable form of income. For good income you generally require high talent and other reasonable numbers (int, cons, etc), and at one per week you could be waiting months before even a half decent prospect. If you do get one you can do one of two things: sell him immediately or see where his physicals cap. The market on fresh high talent is frankly ridiculous generally. People are willing to drop a lot of money on highly talented 0 week rookies. People are also willing to drop even MORE money on high talent with good physicals - but that's never guaranteed and if he caps low you're only going to get peanuts after also paying his wages all this time. The latter is what's happened to the majority of my youthpulls from my exceptional streak.

This is where the YA may be of some use. Because you have a larger number to select from and you can choose which one has the best initial physicals, it inadvertently improves two selling points. Age (larger selection means more 16 year olds) and most importantly - the likelyhood of a higher physical cap (assuming you choose prospects with the best initial physicals). IF, you're fortunate to then pull out a good talent (pure luck, independent of the YA), then he's more likely to have more going for him in terms of what people are looking for on the market.

Then of course, you may need to keep your talent. Like project, I think I'm ok for now talent wise (just need to skill develop the ones with good physicals) and can be more picky. This isn't because of a YA, many seasons of collection (like the Skinks) or my exceptional youth pull streak, but because I went and invested (mostly smartly) and sought out the bargains and splashed the cash when I could and felt it was needed.

In summary, the YA means the highly talented youth you are lucky enough to get have a slightly greater chance of being better (and potentially saves you some training time). If you think that's worth the money then go ahead, but it most certainly should not be a high priority for any team still building.

Wow, that was a mouthful.
Firstly, i think why not?
Secondly, i think, why not?
Thirdly i think, so what?

You can always hope to have the perfect team, perfect youth squad and perfect season. And it is possible. Just ask the supercoach.

Generating the youth players is very vital to the survival of your team. However, if you buy from the trade market you can have the same outcome.
The youth academy is just another form of excitement. That's about it. And its not enough to send you bankrupt. But if you keep losing it might have a more detrimental effect on your economy than the damn youth centre.
I like to see the different names and maybe if he is more than 3.5 star talent they need a large teamwork IMO. Otherwise ill buy a player who has been trained already. Just too boring wasting money week in week out for a kid who will never make the cut.
Just my 3 cents...BFS.
And remember, vote BFS for this seasons NT Manager!

Thanks for the feedback gents.

I was thinking of getting a good (honest) rep advertising and seeing how that went. And maybe setting prices so as to not let anyone go too cheap.

Anyway, I have a lot of time to think about this. Have not even built all VIPs yet!

Mental note to self... if I wanted to go canvas support by PMing managers (nothing wrong here), i should probably avoid sending the same message twice to other coaches in the running.

I had a good laugh this morning. Nothing wrong with enthusiasm though!

In that QB and RB he has $4.75M and he has only been around for a little over 1 season! That has paid for the YA and even young player's wages, for over 5 seasons! And he doesn't even have an upgraded YA yet!

Is purchasing and running a fully upgraded YA a no brainer or is he simply lucky? You only need 1 player like that once every 5 years!

Again, the YA does nothing to improve your chances of the main selling point... talent.

That, and it doesn't affect the willingness of coaches to spend (huge factor in the inconsistent market), when you sell him, his intelligence, or his consistency. On my count, the YA marginally improves 1/6 key factors, with that 1 being physicals.

To summarise like project did:

Luck.

+1.

I'll be on the lookout for possible inclusions, but the only ones that come to mind on my list are the WRs we talked about.
